  1. To make this a painless adventure, I suggest seeing Spencer McMullen (lawyer) or Spencer Shulman (S&S auto sales)... If you by from S&S there are no problems. If you buy elsewhere, I would suggest Spencer McMullen....
  2. Rudy Renteria 766 1306. Rudy has built us a bodega, enclosed our mirador and remodeled our kitchen... All excellent work... He is presently completing a massive remodel for one of our neighbors... He is not the least expensive but he is client-oriented and has superior crews...AND THEY CLEAN UP DAILY!!!!
  3. You might check to see if you can get your US car repaired or serviced down here. We had to sell our Buick as any repairs would take a great deal of time and expense to get replacement parts from NOB... My dos centavos...
  4. I recently beat Telmex out of a new modem after we were down for a week... Unfortunately, I have gone from 5-6 mgb download to 4-4.5. Any thoughts on how to get back up?
  5. Service is the last thing I expect from Telmex... I have learned to manage my expectations...
  6. Telmex like insurance companies and banks are not your friend....
  7. Your TIP could be a contribution to the aduna slush fund. It was in our case and Spencer could not get the $400 back even if retaining it was illegal. Just another "Welcome to Mexico" events not covered by International Living...
  8. You can probably get a decent place to rent for $50 / day or less... Location is usually the determining factor... Plan on $50 / day for meals and misc. Car rentals depend on the vendor having the proper insurance. Many do not and consider you as a "friend" and that you are "borrowing" the car...
  9. Smaller cars, smaller houses, smaller refrigerators etc... The only thing they have that is bigger is TAXES!
  10. Yes, they handle Vet problems and take Tricare as well as some of the major NOB insurances... Yes, they did have billing problems several years ago from a contracted vendor... Now they handle this in-house... As a vet and an officer of the local American Legion, I do highly recommend the group...
  11. Octolan does have many stores but not much in the way of traditional furniture. Modern is in and if you don't like it ... Tough! We spent a day bouncing from shop to shop with nothing gained... If Mexican modern is your style, then a trip to Octolan would be beneficial...
  12. This thread is four years old... Having said that, I highly recommend Oscar based on his continued quality work and superior service... 765-2366.
  13. You can buy closet systems at Home Depot...
  14. Rudy Renteria766-1306. We have used Rudy for a major rehab of our kitchen, a 600sq ft addition and other minor projects... Excellent crews who are one time and keep the workplace clean...
  15. I will go out on a limb and say that there are no rammed earth experts here at Lakeside... That means that the expert has to come here and bring his system and crew... That in its self is a serious cost item. How long do you expect to live in the house? You may wish to conserve cash spent on your rammed earth lodging for assisted living... You will have maintenance and will there be local support to handle this? Compounding the above is the shifting, sliding sands of Lakeside... I do wish you the best!
  16. You might wish to check with a realtor on the resale aspects of an alternatively constructed house... We all sell sometime and your potential market may be diminished...
  17. There are numerous Avante-Gard building systems out there... Some work and some don't... Selecting a system that is not common in a given area may be a deep hole into which one pours money... Climate control here is not a player 90% of the time which is a strong selling point with this particular system. The article on the rammed earth home mentions pine floors which would be music to the local termite population... I have over 40 years of managing both domestic and international construction projects. I would encourage a great deal of due diligence on this or any construction project here at Lakeside... I strongly suggest that as you move forward you employ personnel with known results and with strong reputations.
  18. Miguel Zamora... 333 8088 838.... Have used his services for three years without a problem...
  19. This appears to come under "The magic of Mexico". Putting 48 ltrs in a 41ltr tank that is not empty is definitely magical!
  20. ___-------------______---- Excellent service with a decent stable of tradesmen to call upon... Sorry folks this webpage is sponsored by a Real Estate Company and we are not allowed to make public recommendations about real estate offices,. However you are allowed to text a recommendation in a message format here. But we can not again we can not publicly recommend any property manager, or Real Estate office names. Sorry about that, Mod5
  21. While I seldom recommend website advice... This is a no-brainer. You are absolutely correct in passing this one up...
  22. Gimpychimp is spot on: Go see Spencer, solver of all problems large or small: 765-7553.
  23. If sediment is a problem you might try placing two sediment filters in line prior to the charcoal filter... A relatively cheap fix...
