  1. Interesting that you believe the British are the only ones who do that, it happens here in Mexico all the time and it was something I learned first from the "stupid yankees" who used the lights to signal as well.
  2. Again, what is the condition today, 3 weeks after the OP? Since we have not heard from since the 2nd of July, one seems to think the problem solved.
  3. AS this was posted 20 days ago, my question is what has happened with the dog? Better, worse, what?
  4. Mama's across from SuperLake in San Antonio.
  5. If you went to the garage on Colon in SAT, that guy hasn't had the emissions cert in years. I wonder what he was using to test with? He was the one who put heavy weight oil, (40), in my car and when I saw them doing it I told them the car required 5wI think 20 or something, don't remember exactly, years ago), he said it could not be bought in Mexico. Lie and I knew it as I had bought a quart in the past. Never went to him again. BTW, he did go and buy the correct oil.
  6. I stopped going there quite some time ago, the SIL can be very obnoxious and prices have gone up, portions gone down. The waitstaff and bartender Tony had were friendly and knew what they were doing, the daughter got rid of everyone except the chef. The overall experience has gone down the tubes, I used to go almost once a week, whether for lunch or dinner, no more.
  7. FYI Costco sells a USA made brand, don't remember the name. It has a good rep.
  8. Actually, 50 is the going rate. There are those who pay more, but 50 is the norm.
  9. Perhaps take him to a different vet who will actually check the dog before giving him anything. BTW, I had a dog who was extremely allergic to flea collars.
  10. Not true, call the cops, it is not legal and it produces carcinogens as well as other harmful pollutants, causes respiratory illnesses.
  11. David goes to Spain occasionally for vacation, has he moved back? And if so, when did he sell the restaurant or is it closed?
  12. If you need NY, why is it so important to land at Newark. The trains from JFK go directly into Manhattan, no changing.
  13. An expatriate (often shortened to expat) is a person residing in a country other than their native country.
  14. The official rate is posted, no need to go to Guadalajara.
  15. I would like to buy a wide or semi-wide straw hat in order to keep the sun off my face. I have checked Mia's and would buy new or used. Does anyone know where I am able to find them? Even checked Walmart but nothing there works. TIA

    Bar Thomas

A friend and I were in Chapala yesterday and decided to stop in there and have lunch. The food there has always been good and they made the best hamburger around. We were totally surprised that it was closed and shocked when we looked for a sign to check their times and found none at all. Apparently they are gone and it seems it was not recently that they closed. As I have not heard or seen anything about it I am quite surprised. Does anyone know what happened, could they have moved? If so, I will follow them to the new location. Have wanted the hamburger for quite some time now and haven't been able to get there.
  17. As to the dogs, I have a couple who are terrified, have used Rescue Remedy and Thunder Shirts on them to no avail. Last year I found Anxitane, it is natural, does not affect the liver AND it works!! I bought it at Pet Care in Riberas, he sells a lot of it and sometimes is out of stock. It has taken the two dogs who were the most panicked and made them so calm, they actually sleep right through the rockets. I would recommend it to anyone, check it out on the internet. Amazing results.
  18. It ends this year on the 16th according to SAT FB page.
  19. Sometimes it can be an honest mistake, but when it is more than 10 pesos, which it usually is, is it a mistake? I remember when the person at the cashier was shortchange a few hundred pesos, had given the cashier a 500 peso bill and the cashier stated it was a 200 bill. The person next in line bent over and looked under the counter and there was the 500 bill. It did involve the supervisor and a bit of a brouhaha, the cashier still in denial, but the customer was given the correct change with apologies.
  20. Costco carries the smoked trout, delicious! I buy some every time I go.
  21. Not for nothing, I consider myself a local as I live here and have for many years. Where else would I be a local if not where I live. I think there is a difference between a local and a native resident.
