I have never understood the raising of interest rates to slow down inflation. Please explain. It seems to me that the only ones who benefit are those that have cash on hand and that isn't the people who are just getting by. Businesses can't expand and employ more people. Nobody buys houses so there are no furniture or appliance sales. Everything you want to buy, like a house or a car costs more. I still vividly remember the 70's in Canada when a house mortgage was 10% and a car loan was 19%.

Raising interest rates raises the price of everything. When prices go up demand goes down. When demand is down prices go down so inflation lessens.

Considering the huge quantity of U.S. dollars sent to Mexico in Remittances, the people who need that money are receiving far less... not good for them in addition to the inflation here. Also not good for tourism or exports. Amlo should realize this and take action. Opinions?

What do you propose that AMLO should do?

Thanks to the US "sanctions" on Russia, their economy is now doing very well after shifting their markets to China and the Brics nations. If the Brics idea of changing how oil is priced from Petro Dollars  to whatever their currency ends up being I think the dollar will fall against every currency, not just the Peso. They hope to unveil a gold backed currency so we shall see.

Russia’s economy is not doing so well and their oil production is diminished by bombings by Ukraine. Brics is nothing more than a concept which hasn’t gotten very far. We’ll have to see if their gold backed currency gets off the ground. Let’s stick to the facts.

  4. I just found this on another website.  Reminded me of someone else posting here:

My wife and I recently emigrated from the US to a country where there are a lot of US "expats" and the amount of anti-immigrant sentiment we've heard from them is astonishing. And the irony is completely lost on them.

We were visiting to tie up loose ends before our final move and met one such couple from Boulder, CO. They gave off heavy "we're rich and you should be in awe of that" vibes. We asked why they wanted to leave Boulder and the wife said something along the lines of, "There's just a lot of people moving into Boulder lately and causing all sorts of trouble. You know how brown people are."

In moments like that, I always wish I could come up with a good retort or say something poignant, but my wife and I just looked at each other and walked away.”

He left Colorado because he couldn't shop at a Wal-Mart? I don't know because Boulder didn't have Wal-Mart.

I can't imagine moving to Texas. My Dad used to say "I was born in Texas but when I turned 4 I got smart and moved the family to Kansas."

I got out of Tamaulipas before the narcos got there.  I tiptoe when I’m passing through there.
