  1. DUH... ¿Leíste el sitio web? The link is the latest in how one applies for citizenship. You need to apply before you get to the exam. Feeling a little insecure are you?

  3. RFC explained here: http://www.soniadiaz.mx/real-estate.html As per post above various institutions may assign an RFC but it is not an official RFC.
  4. The changes came after April as I noted. SP can now process new expat applicants but the system could not process an expat renewal as of this morning.
  5. 1. SP computers will tell then if you are with IMSS or ISSSTE. It is not a matter of why did you tell them. Plus the law states you can only belong to one of these providers. 2. The national computer system was down for a few days as they updated it. Once updated they discovered when an expat applies with a TR or PR visa that portion of the program had issues. Mexican nationals have been able to apply since Monday. 3. As of approx. 4 months ago, at least in GTO state all applicants with a TR or PR visa now pay at least something. My clients are typically paying 1100 to 1500 pesos / person for 1 year of coverage. 4. When one pays, membership is only for 1 year, requiring annual renewals. 5. SP has a lower cost that IMSS; it does not ask about pre-existuing conditions which with IMSS usually precludes joining; coverage is 100% from day one vs. IMSS. http://www.soniadiaz.mx/health-care.html
  6. If one can leave with a 10 year TIP then what is the difference in leaving without your vehicle which has a 180 day TIP? Pls do not quote Steve to me geesh that is that last person I would believe except for what he copies from my web site. And when he says he talked to some one where are their names and contact info as I post? Anyone who has the question can call Carlos and ask the law and rationale vs debating at length myths and misinformation.
  7. I followed up in this question recently and updated my web site. The response from my call answers Mainecoons' question above and all vehicles with a valid TIP brought in by tourists. The question often comes up, if as a tourist with a foreign plated car in Mexico, may I fly out and leave the car in Mexico as long as the TIP has not expired. The answer is yes you may as per my conversation with Carlos de la Rosa, an employee of SAT. His number is 01-551-203-1000, ext. 47483. He is also the Retorno Seguro contact.
  8. My understanding is an advance directive is produced by a notario as is a will. FYI September is "will" month and they are half price.
  9. The password comes in an email usually within minutes of applying at INM. It is not on the form and has not been for some time.
  10. This related as in the past Round Up was used on the lake. I found it interesting from a celiac's perspective as friends have the problem. But it appears to affect aquatic life. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3945755/ Mainecoons good comments. If hundreds of kilometers of rivers have runoff, industrial waste and sewage to the point of no life in places then that does not automatically stop as the rivers enter Lake Chapala. Mexico news daily FYI generally only reprints. That article came from a respected news source Milenio. http://www.milenio.com/region/epidemia-insuficiencia_renal-udeg-poncitla-milenio-noticias-jalisco_0_973102884.html The large presa in SMA regularly tested by a group of expats has extremely high sewage contamination and ultimately ends up in Lake Chapala. And that is only one source. When you see the condition of the river in Puebla as we did 6 weeks ago. It is horrible, lifeless with an unbearable smell. 45% of sewage in Mexico is not treated.
  11. The river runs for hundreds of kilometers picking up farm runoff, sewage, industrial waste. This article further confirms the issues: http://mexiconewsdaily.com/news/kidney-disease-is-at-epidemic-levels-data/ The river and presa by SMA drains into Lake Chapala. That pollution does not magically disappear before entering Lake Chapala. When living there and now visiting we never go in the lake. But it is very beautiful to see. And the Santiago River gets the sewage from Guadalajara. Until 2014 nearly all GDL sewage went directly into the river. Since then improvements. http://geo-mexico.com/?p=11816
  12. You may apply for Seguro Popular as a Temporary Resident. http://www.soniadiaz.mx/health-care.html You will also see the visa requirements on my web site which has 17750 views in May.
  13. On line work paid from a foreign source is allowed and nothing else is required. To work and be paid in Mexico requires first a Temporary Resident visa and then apply again locally for Permiso Para Trabajar visa. First though you register with SAT for taxation. More here: http://www.soniadiaz.mx/immigration---visas.html Any time you change employer or type of work you have 90 days to inform INM. Mexican wages will be dramatically less than those paid in Canada or the US.
  14. Recently, I went with a client to Seguro Popular. In 10 minutes he was signed up. In another 10 minutes he saw an English speaking doctor here in San Miguel where he presented tests etc from a private hospital. He was given a referral to a heart specialist. His next referral will be to schedule his heart surgery in Leon. His Decil (level) is a 2 so he will not pay for SP nor for surgery. Like anywhere healthcare varies in Mexico but there are many very good facilities and doctors. saludos Sonia
  15. This may help. http://www.soniadiaz.mx/health-care.html saludos Sonia
  16. No one has stated a law that says you can not leave your vehicle in Mexico for the duration of the TIP. We have people with myths, another contradicting himself and other misinformation starting with the original post. A TIP is normally issued for 180 days. One can leave Mexico and return as many times as they wish using the same TIP. So show a law that says one can not leave their car with a valid TIP while they fly out. No law has been frequently let alone once. :-) Sonia
  17. RV but you are not in Mexico and often use words like "confiscate" while trying to instill fear and refer to "words" but you never quote a law. All some of us seek is an actual law and so far we have only seen myths, someone taking to someone, contradictory comments and rumours. Note this thread started with misinformation as I quickly suspected and nothing to do with what is being discussed now. If anyone can post a law in Spanish that supports or refutes leaving a vehicle in Mexico while the tourist card holder leaves and returns within the 180 days the TIP is in effect I would sincerely love to be educated on this issue. thanks Sonia
  18. Maybe I am missing something but are your comments not contradictory? So far I am with HOOKEMHORNS. In this which I have read in the past many times, I do not see the tie to the FMM: http://www.sat.gob.mx/aduanas/vehiculos/importacion_temporal/Paginas/automoviles_ingles.aspx Which states: "State under oath to tell the truth that they commit to return the vehicle concerned within the authorized term and no longer perform acts or omissions that constitute offenses or crimes due to the improper use or destination of the vehicle". Can anyone point to the law that says specifically during your 180 day TIP you can not fly out and return and car is not legal? I can be convinced either way but so far I have not see the words as part of a law. saludos Sonia
  19. And in addition, once you have a TIP you may drive your vehicle across the border multiple times during the duration of of your permit. saludos Sonia
  20. Not questioning Rick but I have serious doubts this happened. Who is "they"? And"they" came on plane? Did "they" take the person off to pay and the plane waited? saludos Sonia
  21. We have researched these a lot. One source for information on reliability, approx. costs, capacities, efficiency is by searching Amazon.com. Friends in SMA in building a new home included 5 mini-splits and large main unit. They are very happy with their decision but used mostly. People we know in Ajijic went solar with mini-splits, brought in 220V from street and cost was about $8,000 US maybe a little more. In San Miguel we have lower humidity and temperatures but cooler winter so our need is more for heat. There are new propane wall furnaces by Rinnai etc that are excellent for just heat. They too can be found on Amazon for researching. The issue with mini-splits is you need power at each unit and normally 220V at main unit and a refrigerant line run to each unit. Most homes do not have 220V so an additional cost. They also require considerable electricity which means solar electric helps. But now the cost is several thousand dollars required if one includes solar. saludos Sonia
  22. Fine will be low (maybe 250 pesos). Since so long ago there won't be record when they entered. Allow an extra hour at airport. Kind of you to help. saludos Sonia
  23. You have 90 days. And while it may be difficult for INM to know if they do, there is a fine. I just reported a divorce for a client and he was divorced in 2012 and the fine was 2804 pesos. INM does not charge for a status change. There are on-line forms and a letter required plus present passport and visa. No photos required. If one changes address and has an utility bill in their name INM can call the service provider and ask. Or INM asks for copy of lease or contacts landlord etc, they can confirm when address changed if they really were so inclined. saludos Sonia
