    Getting very close to 17.

I expect to see Mexico begin to cut interest rates soon.  The very high rates here are probably the main reason for the high Peso.

Agree with the high interest rate cause. Mexico will hurt if they don't get the peso weaker soon.

    • Scientists and researchers from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) said at a press conference on Wednesday that a fourth heat wave could hit the country as soon as July 1, while the current heat wave sweeping over Mexico may continue for another 10 to 15 days.

Foreign exchange fee is determined by your bank.

    Exactly !

There are three ways you could be hit with fees when using your debit card overseas. First, your bank could charge you a fee for using an out-of-network ATM — both at home and at ATMs abroad. Second, the bank that owns the ATM could tack on additional fees. Finally, you can be charged foreign transaction fees at the ATM, just as you can when making credit card purchases.

Jalisco Plans Driving Evaluation Requirement For Seniors Over 75

Might I suggest they also evaluate the adherence to the driving laws here at Lakeside.  Motorcycles.   Red Lights. No Left Turns, etc.

This is not the place to suggest that. No one here has any authority over that.

I just don't know why it's important to make this kind of condescending remark when one questions or disagrees with an opinion made by another here.

Yes, always been topes and traffic. What's new is that there is now double the topes and 4-5 times the traffic.

One would think that those who live here understand about that traffic and the drive there. They are old enough to make their own decisions. Seems to me that trying to impose your standards on others is not cool.

ieveI was not referring to a spot in a lot, but a curb on a street. These have to be applied for by the handicapped person, the neighbors are asked if OK. The space is then issued to that handicapped person. I believe it has a number and the sticker has the corresponding number. So the person and car is known to the neighbors. Apparently one of the neighbors is using the space and I am told the cops do not check. So my friend would like to report this and does not know how.

Evidently it was not OK with one neighbor.

Sometimes you can't tell what actually is their health issue that causes them to park in those spots.  Example: you can't see if someone has heart issues . I am not saying that there isn't abuse, just that you can't always judge a book by its cover.

Easy enough to tell, if no hanging placard, not qualified to use the space. All with serious need will qualify.

A friend asked me how to report abuse of a handicap blue curb parking. I thought maybe Vialidad? Anyone know how to do this?

Such a common problem in all of Mexico. In over 20 years, I have never seen any enforcement to solve this problem. Once, I saw a cop shake his finger at a young woman that had parked in one. She just ignored him, and he did nothing. When it comes to parking in Mexico, it is dog eat dog.

You do not need the INIPAM card to receive the discount for your drivers license. Both my wife and I renewed and received the discount without the card. As to Chopo their prices for most services are far higher than many laboratories in the area as much as 50% more on blood work. So good you got a discount but you still paid more than most of us locals pay. Never have bought medicine at Walmart good they affered a discount. They are not listed on the INAPAM website.

Most of the INAPAM services such as legal advice, exercise programs, counseling etc aren't available lakeside.

    Ditto.

    Greetings All,

My husband and I are relocating to the Chapala area 1st quarter 2023. We’re looking at rental availability now and it is scarce. Do things open up after winter say around April ?

    We are looking for:

    12 mo rent

Nice quite neighborhood away from traffic (we will have a car)

What area do you recommend ?

    Thank you

Just wondering what areas you found on you previous visits Lakeside? If you plan to live here for 12 months, surely you have make at least 2-3 visits to check out the area. Once you settle in on a 12 month lease, you are "stuck", so do your "due diligence" beforehand, as this is not Kansas.

My friend you missed the point competently. Those "questions" were meant for ANY area lakeside, and some/all apply depending on which you are considering. I'm NOT picking on your choice and I know it's perfect for you. I just know too many people who regret decisions made because wherever they opted, it turned out to be a mistake. Chill amiga 😍

No one made you the "expert" here, why not let people make their own list, since your input was not asked for. The OP is intelligent, don't show her disrespect.

I know you do, my friend..... yet nobody could PAY me to live there! Made that decision in 1999 and have never known one reason to change... for US. That's why I still believe suggestions are good, but Apachewoman needs to make a  good list of likes/dislikes/wants/ can do without etc. and then start hoofing it around all areas.

How often is garbage collected? How reliable is water service to the house? What about pressure from the street? How often are there CFE issues? What happens in heavy rains (flooding etc)? How stable is the ground underneath? Is there a salitre problem (like there used to be in Riberas)? How do people regard other people's pets? How's the noise level?  What's the neighbourhood like on the weekends /evenings / long weekends? How would traffic affect ME and my lifestyle? And on and on and on.... many things one doesn't think of in the beginning but can be deal deal-breakers for some after the fact.  (Cincy for one, 3 replies back)

What a rude replay ! Why not "butt out" about where others live and only reply to facts about where you live.

I bought my first bottle of amiodarone since arriving in mexico and was more than surprised that it cost 400 pesos for 20 tablets.  Granted I am not in Kansas anymore but this is a very inexpensive medicine in the states.  Does anyone else use this?   - For me it is for AFib which I must take daily along with Eloquist another very expensive drug which I bought at parmStore in Canada for far less than it is even sold here in Mexico.

I can't get Pharmstore to send meds  here and am reluctant to ask anyone to carry drugs across the border in their suitcases - Question is - since rumor has it that medicines are far less expensive in Mexico - is it also true that some are more expensive?

Yep ! Especially f you need the medicine for more than 10 days it can get Very expensive.
