  1. We opened and used the ATM on the same day, but that was a long time ago. Hope it all works as well for you.
  2. Excellent. Thanks to both.
  3. Have looked but can't find current phone numbers for the offices of Dr. Barragan and Dr. Haro. Also, if you know current price for regular cleaning, I would appreciate that. Needed to pass on to friend. Thank you !
  4. Just a FYI, we don't put our payments on "automatic", but I go in on the chromebook and pay them each month( or 2). Just feel better about doing it like that, but maybe we could do "auto" but don't want to. I do get notified by Telmex and CFE when their bills are available to pay. Not water, but I know the date to check for the bill.
  5. We pay no fees, but we keep a balance so we always have money to pay the bills. You would need to ask them. I always do everything on my computer (chromebook). I don't use a smart phone. We pay water, electric, telmex internet. I'm sure you could pay more, but that is all we use.
  6. We have used Citibanamex for over 15 years without one drop of problems. We receive a new card in the mail a month before the old ones expire. Never a problem. You do what you think is best for you. This is what works best for us and I don't believe you will find another way that is "easier". Been here at Lakeside since 1997. Good luck.
  7. Open a small saving account and get a debit card. Easy to pay your bills online with that debit card. Just put some money in it to keep from paying a monthly fee. Been doing that for years, here and when we are NOB. EASY.
  8. So, you think within a year the cost of living Lakeside will be very similar to SMA? Mexican friends there for years have not been able to buy food there and have to go to other pueblos to buy twice a month. The Mexicans have been priced out.
  9. "Unlimited for 200p per month gives you very little use of the Internet. Therein is your problem. Whipstock is "right on ".
  10. Have used Lewis & Lewis Insurance on the Internet for years. GREAT. Excellent coverage and the best rates. Good luck.
  11. I think that type of document would be proof that both the employee and the employer were guilty of violating the law. Might the employee later claim they were forced to sign that document. After all, this is Mexico.
  12. And if, later on, they claim you refused to pay them correctly and get a lawyer?
  13. I don't really think Mostly cares very much what you think. But, you certainly are entitled to your opinion. I'm sure Mostly would allow you to make up the difference in salary that you think he should pay. Doubt if you care about his maid that much, right?
  14. I just read that Mercado Libre is one of the most hacked businesses in Mexico. Latest hack compromised over 300,000 customers information.
  15. In my 25 years at Lakeside, I have learned that most employees of a business, such as Walmart, do not care if you buy anything or not. They will still get their weekly salary. If you question them and tell them of faults, they will just shrug and agree with you. I find you have 2 choices, really; (1) just accept it, or (2) move on.
  16. FWIW: When I call the USA 800 number, I simply dial 001-800---. A message comes on that says this is not toll free and I will be charged IR, but I never have been charged as I have a 150p for 25 day plan.

FWIW, We have eaten at fairly nice restaurants in Guadalajara and have been served bread with lipstick on a piece, and a thumb imprint on the bottom; chips with a bite out and lipstick marks; salsa with pieces of chips in it, etc. So, do Mexican restaurants use food to serve you that other people have had on their table? Absolutely !!!
  18. Just a FWIW, I have blocked him, among others, so I never get my panties is a wad about his posts, nor do I ever fight myself about whether to respond to his posts. It sure is easy to do that. I strongly suggest you do that and skip on forward with your life. If there is a post by someone responding to him, I just skip on by without reading it. You can do this too. Doesn't take much effort to block and skip on by. Good luck. P.S. I see the damage being caused by those who respond, because if they simply ignored, he would stop posting. He lives for the responses, and those who respond live to respond to him. Life should be more than that, but those types do live among us. and they always will.
  19. We have found over the 25 years we have been in Mexico that if it is routine, we use local doctors and meds. BUT, if we feel it is more than that, we go back to the US, as more than routine can quickly get very expensive when paying out of pocket in Mexico. Medicare and Advantage have been very good to us over the last 15-18 years when we needed them. Cost of going back and forth there is not that much. Be prepared for the unexpected. Fortunately for them, many here in Mexico have no money concerns so they find the cost of more than routine health care here to be an insignificant expense. A few of us need to return NOB for expensive treatments. Good luck, DottieJane.
