  1. Even a broken clock is right twice a day...

For me, I really value the recommendations here.  Most will say "yay" or "nay" and give reasons. Whether we're talking about food, a particular store, medical, etc, there's usually a strong trend in the follow-up comments. I don't know squat about this particular practice, but when so many folks have taken the time to write and it's not positive, then I pay attention. Actual experiences are out there for others to read; it's up to us to decide whether or not to be a patient. Interesting that this keeps popping up, though.

  2. Another thumbs up for Turbotax. I've been using it for years and have never had a problem, despite some returns that were a bit complicated. They walk you through every step with simple, easy-to-understand questions and explanations. I filed our return early last week and it just hit our account today. Love it! I also recommend their audit defense (I think $49?) just for peace of mind. While our returns have become very simple (ah, retirement!), it's still nice to know that there's an extra layer of protection. BTW, we switched to TurboTax when we started a business and hired an accountant to do our taxes since it was so new to us. We paid an arm and a leg ,only to be told that we owed money when we should have received a refund. Found Turbotax and never looked back.

  3. Gosh, it's worth it to me. The ride is usually quiet/relaxing until you hit Guad and it gets you relatively close to the "good" Costco. Plus, there are quite a few shops (Office Max, Home Depot, Petco) and restaurants on the way back. $5 for making this direction-limited driver easily get from Point A to Point B? A bargain!

  4. Just got back from a doctor's appt in Guad. Yes, the traffic is down to 2 lanes and yes, it's going to be several months. This is for both directions. I really, really recommend that you use Google maps to check out traffic right before you leave your home. While most routes had crashes and/or construction, you can work out which delays are less backed-up, etc. If you don't mind a bit of traffic entering Guad, the macrolibramento is actually faster than the airport route. Someone said 2 moths? Bwahahahaha...ummmm, no.

  5. When we first moved here, we decided to install solar and have been extremely happy. At the same time, hubby wanted an in-ground generator for possible electrical outages. I thought it wasn't necessary, but I wasn't that bothered either way. So, we got a propane one which easily runs the whole home with no problems. Thanks for the heads up about this evening.

BTW, this is the first time (and probably last since I'm so stubborn) that he has it in writing that he was right!

  6. Give it up, Gringo. You didn't post anything that was on Google...just similar pictures. Do you really have so much time on your hands that you have to attack anyone who doesn't goosestep in line with you? I normally like to read differing opinions on most topics, often arguing as much as the next person, but you seem hell bent to make everyone see only your view. I don't think a fake post would go this far to make a point.

YOU can go on believing everything posted here and elsewhere in the Ethernet, however I choose to be just a little skeptical...have you not heard of Spam, Trolls, Etc., Etc., Etc.??? Why dig up an almost 5 year old thread, and why with only your SECOND post here???

I am replying to this only because you are now attacking my naivete...of which I have very little. Just because I don't agree with your uber-defense of the doctor doesn't mean I believe everything posted here or anywhere else; however, x-rays are very convincing while your chest beating defense is not.  Did it occur to you that this woman, as a newbie, did a search on this website and wanted to use an old posting to show a different side? No? As for it being her second post, was she supposed to wait a few months, posting inane comments about the local nightlife, before posting about her bad experience? Maybe she wants to spare others from her experience. Who knows? I will repeat this one more time:  I don't care WHY she posted; I'm grateful that she did and wish her nothing but the best.

Why has this April 2016 thread been revived now? This is from a person just on this board for a very short time and is exactly her SECOND post!!! I hope that she is aware of the very strong Defamation Laws here. As pointed out on this thread there are many very happy patients of Dr. Candy here including myself.

I don't care how old this post is, obviously Gail wanted to relay a VERY HORRIBLE AND EXPENSIVE experience that she had. You seem so hell bent on defending this dentist simply because you've had good experiences; well, she hasn't. Doesn't it occur to you that she's trying to warn others of what happened to spare them the same potential disaster? You don't have to agree with her, but questioning her integrity/reason for posting is a bit, well, questionable. As for defamation, "truth is the best defense" works for me...not to mention those horrendous x-rays.

Again, I'm so sorry you are experiencing so much pain and expense, Gail. No one should have to go through what you're going through. Thank you for sharing.

I guess some think they know more than the medical people...They must have a sad life if they can’t live for a few weeks without going to Costco...

If they do get Covid19 I wonder if they will post that fact on here...

And some people have far too much time  on their hands that they make themselves guardians of us all. You must have a sad life if you have to find fault in others without looking in your own mirror. Since I actually have a life, I try not to make myself the neighborhood nazi. SMH.

    Dear chapalatooregon educator,

I was fortunate to have parents that taught me common sense. You see I have not changed the way I go about my daily business other then to take basic protections (mask, distancing and hand washing). Of course I am aware that over 60 can have more sever medical consequence if they are already dealing with pre existing conditions. But you see, if your in that category then yes stay home.

Do you remember the AIDS pandemic ? I took notice when it spread to the non gay community. So guess what, I simply stuffed my wallet with a couple of condoms. Was it necessary to tell the world to practice safe sex ? Maybe governments should have implemented a sex police squad to ensure compliance.

A BIG thumbs up to common sense!!!!! (I'd give you a laughing emoji, but I ran out for today...)

  11. As promised, here is the Costco report, a/k/a "Can I enter if I'm over 60?"

For obvious reasons, I'll keep a few personal details to myself, but my friend and I went to Costco today. We were about 5-7 minutes prior to their opening and there was already a line of about 20 people ahead of us. Every blasted second, a recording announced, in both Spanish and English, that entrance was restricted for those under 15 and those over 60. While I think the staff looked folks over, they didn't do any ID checks or anything other than taking your temp and splooshing you with wonder gel. I can honestly say that there were several people that looked over 60, and then some, but no one was stopped. Both friend and I made our purchases with no problems; HOWEVER, one very interesting thing is that she couldn't do returns on a couple of items that she had. As soon as she gave her membership card, they checked and told her that she couldn't return them since she was over 60, blah, blah, blah. Of course, this was a bit of a joke since she'd just finished a major shopping expedition, but I guess it's a case of if they had accepted the items, then they would be acknowledging that folks were shopping who were --GASP!!!!-- over 60. Since there's a 90 days return guarantee, it wasn't that big of a whoop since we go monthly.

So, as long as you don't look one step away from death and act with confidence, you should be fine (your wallet may suffer, but that's a different topic!) Oh, and that was true of other shops. We weren't refused entry at any of them although one didn't let us enter together (one at a time). Again, no big whoop.

    Hope that helps.

Uniformed is not knowing that virtually all cases of covid in people over 60 are gotten at home, shopping while wearing mask and keeping distance has virtually a zero chance of getting covid and per Spencer this is a gross case of age discrimination specifically prohibited by the First Amendment to the Mexican Constitution.  Please contact him for his detailed explanation the latter.

Exactly. Of course, facts and reason don't seem to apply anymore when everyone knows what's best for everyone else, but I pity the folks who are over 60 (and look it) and have no one who can do their shopping for them. If you're scared, stay inside, but stop trying to be my parent.

I assume Costco is still enforcing this.  I would appreciate from someone first hand who tries to go next week.

A friend and I are going on Monday, so will report back on this if no one else does.

I also went to Wally's World about 8:30 today and had zero problems. I just marched up to the gel dispenser and splooshed, spritzed a paper towel with the wonder liquid, and then took my temp with no problem. Of course, I had on my scarf, a mask and sunglasses, so the wrinkles were pulled into place.

  14. OK...this is the second drool post that Pedro has made. I PROTEST!!! (mainly because my cooking skills are of the "Easy Bake Oven" level and I would take these delectable tails and turn them into something that would make a crematorium envious)
