  1. Three or four weeks ago a Telmex repair man was at the house and suggested I go to fiber as there is no cost involved and my speed would improve. I was told they would be able to do it in a week or so. And like I said above, we are going on four weeks and still no word.

No problem. When it happens, it happens.  I already have pretty good speed for copper. I'm usually getting a download speed of 35 to 50 Mb/sec and an upload speed right around 1.6 on some days and between 8 and 10 on other days.

Yes, I do find it weird that my upload speed varies by so much.

  2. I had already upgraded to an HDDSR 800 receiver, from the 600 series because I was told I had to upgrade earlier this year and I am again getting the message that I need to upgrade receivers again, Very confusing.

Like most of you I have lost most of the channels I used to watch to include those from the US, especially from Seattle.

Oh I am still getting about 1/3 the channels I did several days ago. But I am not getting the network channels from Seattle or Detroit or CNN, or CNBC or any other US news channels.

  3. On my way flying First Class from Seattle to GDL for only $45 US dollars. What? , you ask. I'm using my points gained by previous flights. And I thought the ticket would be free. But apparently there is some type of US tax that applies that isn't free. Oh well, $45 is almost free.

See you also soon. I'm looking forward to coming home.

  4. I live upper Ajijic at the top of Juarez on the East-West street called Privada Juarez and my aljiba is full of water. So, no problems here this Sunday. I didn't check until today. I have a very large Aljiba which holds more water than I normally use in a week So I can't tell you if my city supply was temporarily shut down or not. I just know that everything has been working great for me at the top of Juarez in Ajijic

  5. I stopped using ATMs and opened up a bank account about 15 years ago, because I felt guilty always paying most everyone with 500-peso notes. It's nice and respectful when you have access to enough smaller peso bills to come closer to having the correct change.

Also, the last time I brought (wired) funds down from the US, the exchange rate was about 21.5 pesos per dollar. I keep these pesos in a brokerage account at Actinver Bank. which so far has been a good (not perfect) investment :)  ,

  6. Gosh, how things have changed. The first year I could get solar panels in Ajijic. I got the most powerful available. I got ten 160-watt panels. The following year, the most powerful panels were 170 watts per solar panel, and I bought 12 of them. So, my 22-panel system was rated at 3,640 watts. Today, it would take less than seven 555 watt panels to produce the same amount of power.

I wonder, are these new 555 watt panels about the same size as the earlier panels?

I love my solar panel package. It sure has saved me a lot of money, not being in DAC.

  7. Gosh, I wish mine were 400 watts. The first year they offered solar panels lakeside, the largest they offered me were 160 watts per panel and I purchased 10 panels. The following year I bought 12, but that year the largest were up to 170 watts per panel. so, my total output was rated at 3640 watts from my 22 panela. Today things are much better. At 400 watts I would have only needed about 9 panels

  8. I come from an area that never gets too hot. And I am always amazed how people from the warmer and/or hotter areas of the US and Canada can stand the hot weather. lI guess you could call me a hate sissy :). At the moment I am making my reservations to come back lakeside, an area I proudly call home about 9 months of the year. I'll be back in early July, once lakeside (in my eyes) becomes paradise, weatherwise again :)

  9. Gosh, according to the Ajijic weather station, it was 92.6 degrees Fahrenheit yesterday afternoon. I'm sure glad I'm up north in Seattle, hiding from that terrible heat. l sure hope the rain comes soon so that I can come back in early July as scheduled.

I wish you folks the best down there.
