  1. Has happened with my Charles Schwab ATM card a number of times. Go mañana
  2. Traderspoc aka Wayne has been doing our taxes for years and has saved us A LOT of money.
  3. Call Francisco Miramontes ‭(333) 157-8060‬ he and his sons drive gringos for a living. They have a van for exactly what you need. We have used him for over 8 years. He drove my husband t the airport with a 345am pick up 2 days ago. Always on time and reliable.
  4. There is also a CBSA document which makes it clear that Canadian residents may not drive US rental vehicles into Canada except under special circumstances: http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/publicati...d2-4-1-eng.pdf This is about driving a Mexican plated vehicle into Canada...not US rental car
  5. She has also done wonders for me. Had a neck problem for 35+ years. Lots of chiropractors, massage and orthos who wanted to do surgery. Erin worked on me, it took about 6 months and now. Am totally pain free after over 35 years.
  6. Don't let all these people scare you about legal contracts. Seriously, just come down in November and hang out for as long as you can stay. Talk to as many people as you can about living here. It is too soon to go touring rentals and I don't think any rental agents would take the time for "lookie loos." It I should not like the U.S. where one agent can show you all the rentals. Each office only rents their own listings. You have to go to each individual office. Google Lake Chapala rentals and you will see the agencies and their individual listings of what is out there for the money. When you first arrive it will most likely be easier to use an agency rental for you first home. After living here you may be able to find the cheaper Mexican landlords. When here go to LCS (Lake Chapala Society) and look at the bulletin board there as well as Superlake, El Torito, not sure if Walmart still has rentals on theirs. Should you decide this is the place for you then make the move and stay in a B&B such as Ajijic Suites where there is a small kitchenette then go out and find a place to rent. You can make some friends while you are here that may be able to look at rental homes for you before your move and send photos. You may just rent a place sight unseen. If you get here and don't like it they cannot hold you to a lease like In the States. Just find somewhere you do like and move. You may loose your deposit if you break a lease, but that is all. Usually a months rent. Beat of luck
  7. Pete...are you saying Shaw does the upgrade up north physically coming to your home? Obviously this doesn't work outside of Canada. Will we be loosing Shaw completely here in Mexico? If so let's hope we get faster internet so we can stream our TV shows
  8. YES it is wrong. Per Spencer McMillan...mark OTHER
  9. We have made this trip a number of time crossing at Nogales. Most recently we drove to San Diego over the Christmas holidays with our 2 small dogs. Got health certificates and have never been asked for them in any of the 5 border crossings in the 7 years living here. In either direction. Here is where we have found the best overnight stops. Stay in Nogales,Az the night before crossing into Mexico. Anywhere they allow pets. Stock up on snacks and sandwiches from Safeway the night before. It is hard to stop to eat in Mexico with pets in the car as it is too hot. We take tuns going to the bathroom so we can leave the a/c running. 1st night in Mexico we stay at Hotel del Rio in Navajoa. Pet friendly and nice restaurant. Right off the highway. Dinner and breakfast there. Over the holidays it was only 1062 pesos. The next night we stayed in Mazatlan across from the boardwalk at the Hotel Aguamarina. Not fancy but pets okay. Go to one of the fish restaurants on the beach across the street. We even too the dogs with us to dinner. Nice sunset and you will really feel like you have arrived in Mexido. As others said...nothing to be afraid of. Just stay on the quota and drive during the day. If you only have cats I would. Or even mention it to the hotel since you don't have to walk them. I realize it is a scary adventure you are embarking on. I will PM you my US Vomage number. Feel free to call. I'm good at giving support and can answer questions for you. Congratulation on the life changing decision you have made
  10. If you stop at an Oxxo (like 7/11) for food I would just bring your dog in. By the time anyone possibly says anything you will be out of there. Learn to say "it's too hot in the car for my dog" in Spanish. I don't think anyone will say anything. Any restaurant with outside setting will probably be ok with having you bring your dog.
  11. Andi......made this exact trip last month with my 2 dogs. Have done it before. Stay at the Best Western Hotel Del Rio in Navojoa. They are dog friendly and safe. They have a decent restaurant on the property. Most places in Mexico do not recognize service dogs unless they are seeing eye dogs so I don't think you can bring yours into the restaurant. However, you can sit outside with him/her. 2nd night we stay at the Aguamarine Hotel in Mazatlan. It is across the street from the beach and is dog friendly. They charge 500p cash deposit (you get it back). Tell them your dog is a service dog and they waive their regular 250p charge. You will have to show some kind of proof...an ID, vest or something. If you don't have proof they will charge you 250p (not refundable). This is the only place I have found in Mazatlan that takes dogs. There are fish restaurants right across the street on the beach. We brought our dogs. You don't see the restaurants unles you are standing on the malecon as they are below street level. Mazatlan is a good stopping place. There isn't much else after Mazatlan. Also, be sure to fill up with gas before leaving Mazatlan as it will be a very long time before you find a gas station. Bring lots of snacks as there really isn't anywhere to stop to eat besides Oxxo (like 7/11). https://www.bestwestern.com/content/best-western/en_US/booking-path/hotel-details.70111.html http://www.aguamarina.com/en/completo.php Cross at Mariposa truck crossing in Nogales early in the a.m. We even got the red light and they just had us open the back of our car, then told us to have a nice day. Didn't care about seeing our dogs papers, but you should have them just in case. Stay on the Cuota (toll road) and you will be fine. You will be here soon and both of you will love it here.
  12. Take the dog to the vet at La Huerta Plaza to start. See if he knows her. luvsdawgs is right. She looks to be in good condition and probably belongs to someone. Take her back to where you found her and see if she finds her way home. Ask everyone you see in the area near there if they know who she belongs to. She is someone's pet.
  13. We also put in solar from E-Sun about 5 years ago and it paid for itself about a year ago. Rey happy with their service
  14. too bad, as Miguel has done a lot of really good work for us. Not always delivered on time, but his work has been excellent. I do know his cousin was working with him and had a bad accident. Maybe he is back at work now.
  15. in the States. You can order from Amazon. BTW....it does not blow dog poop. It has 3 speeds:)
  16. We have a Makita battery operated one. Works great and neighbors have never complained. I fact a few of them have now bought one!
  17. after looking up Gabapentina I wouldn't touch the stuff. This is a serious med...NOT a sleeping med."Gabapentin was originally approved in the U.S.. UU. by the FDA in 1994 as adjunctive medication to control partial seizures (still effective when added to other seizure medications). In 2002 we added an approval for the treatment of postherpetic neuralgia (neuropathic pain that follows shingles, other painful neuropathies, and nerve pain). Although it is "right" (ie, approved by the FDA), has been the effectiveness of gabapentin in the prevention of neuropathic pain and frequent migraines nystagmus. Gabapentin has also been used in the treatment of bipolar disorder. However, this use "not indicated" is becoming more controversial. There are some statements about the actions of gabapentin as a mood stabilizer and has the advantage of having fewer side effects than medications against more conventional bipolar disorder as lithium and valproate. Some small and uncontrolled studies in the 1990s, most of them sponsored by the manufacturer of gabapentin, suggesting that this drug treatment of bipolar disorder would prometedor.De However, recently, several controlled studies, double-blind, found Gabapentin which was not more effective (and in one study, less effective) than a placebo. Despite scientific evidence that gabapentin is not optimal in the treatment of bipolar disorder, many psychiatrists continue prescribiéndola for this purpose. Gabapentin has limited usefulness in the treatment of anxiety disorders such as social phobia and obsessive-compulsive disorder, in treatment-resistant depression and insomnia. Gabapentin may be effective in reducing pain and spasticity in multiple sclerosis. It has also been helping patients with chronic postoperative pain (usually caused by nerves have been damaged accidentally qe in an operation, and when they regenerate, are reconnected incorrectly). In this case includes a tingling sensation near or around the area where the operation took place, and intense sharp pains, severe pain after a lot of movement, constant moderate pain that lasts all day and a general feeling of weakness. These symptoms can appear many months after an operation and therefore the condition can progress without being discovered. Gabapentin is also prescribed to patients who are treated with anti-androgenic compounds to reduce the incidence and intensity of hot flashes following treatment. Gabapentin administered orally is one of the two medications (the other is the flumazenil is administered intravenously) for consideration as part of the treatment protocol known as Promise for addictions to alcohol, cocaine and methamphetamine. Gabapentin was given in doses of 1200 mg taken before bedtime for 40-60 days. Although the combination of infusions of flumazenil and gabapentin tablets is authorized treatment, there is no prohibition for an optional protocol prescribing gabapentin outside the Promise. There have been reports of meth addicts that gabapentin only administered at doses and times listed above have reduced withdrawal symptoms and almost eliminating anxiety and the desire to use methamphetamine (as of July 2007). It is occasionally prescribed gabapentin for the treatment of idiopathic subjective tinnitus, but a randomized double-blind controlled found it ineffective."
