  1. Well I guess you got to hear the good the bad and the ugly ...have you been able to come to a decision???
  2. Who said Jesus was a man?
  3. Did you travel by your self or with a tour group? sound's like something I would like to do
  4. Has anyone recently had a tree removed and the cost please...I appreciate the cost will vary with size etc but I would like an idea if the price I have been given of 2,000 pesos is in the ball park. This price is for "offical" permit permission etc...Its a Ficus trash tree about 8/10 inches in diameter and 10 ft tall...they all grow like weeds...and of course was planted directly under the telephone/electric lines
  5. Sorry just removed from other post Emlies restaurant ..if you have a issue with dogs in restaurants..think of siting next to a **** for 8 hours on a transatlantic flight........and we thought smoking was a problem on planes!!!
  6. For my 2 cents.....I have visited friends many times in Chapala Haciendas and Brisa ...I like the "rural" atmosphere ....... Many are satisfied but with "Buts"...All fracs etc have "Buts"....the problem comes if those issues will be a "problem" to you. A recommendation........go out to the lot early and late in the evening , linger awhile...if you have a warm and good feeling about , go for it. My observations,....... too many dogs and frankly some homes are "mini Kennels". Also I would check with the office on how many delinquent HOA owners are there . If there is a high percentage...... then the burden falls on the current owners to support the infrastructure.....Like many older Fraccs the development was too ambitious, the streets too wide and require lots of maintenance etc...Also security will always be problematic because the outside perimeter is open...much like many of the other fraccs in the area....the robbers do not come through the front gates...(well some do!!) Take into consideration the other OP comments and take the appropriate decision ...good luck navigating through the real estate minefield called Lakeside
  7. Could be the Transtos are not so Gringo hungry in Chiapas as here at Lakeside..sometimes a good deal can turn horribly bad.
  8. For some of us old fa×ts 5 years is a life sentence
  9. My error..should have been " why are you moving from Montana"?
  10. Maybe if you can share all the reasons you are leaving Mexico, we can be more helpful....perhaps some of them will follow you to MX...maybe not....For sure our Climate is great...but many locations do not have "good" internet service
  11. I am sure your intentions are well meaning, but like Raferbr , I feel you have found a solution but not solved "the problem"
  12. I think they open at 8.30..yes reliable but no tinsel or glitter ambiance
  13. On Thursday I visited LMG and had an interesting experience...They said they were not seeing any cash paying patients..They only wanted patients with a supplement NOB insurance . I thought this very strange and some what suspicious of their motives ....could it be they have found a market niche where they bill your insurance North American price(s) for any treatment
  14. Thank you for sharing. A great alternative and the opportunity for a day in Guadalajara
  15. Has anyone used this company located in China?
  16. Giving it a low interest loan still suggests it is broke..or not
  17. Well shifting all tne high risk customers from IMSS to SP will ensure SP will collapse in the not so distant future
  18. Seriously comparing Ikea design to Mexican products is apples and oranges Have you noticed over the years there are now more "modern " square shape houses being built in both the Mexican and gringo communities and the traditional Mexican furniture is not compatible
  19. Congratulations...So did you "forsake all other foreign potentates" (Shriners OK) and shred your USA/CAD passport??
  20. I am sorry for your situation. We hear similar stories with regularity....seriously...... people who have some interest with family or friends living away from home should be more in touch and not hope "good things" will happen...particularly when it happens in "any" foreign country
  21. Gosh I hope I am never on a plane or bus with Kiko, seems you could drop out of the sky or fall in a ravine...what negativity.... If you do not feel warm and comfortable about the real estate agent you are working with, get a different one for God sake. My experience has been they can save you money by pointing out the Notario who have "high" fees for closing and those who charge lower fees...similar as the various doctors in the area charge different fees. And by the way Notario can and do have slight different interruption of what the law means, which can also cost you or save you some money. For those of us who have been around for many years...yes we have all seen the "goal post" move when it comes to real estate regulations. So sharing your experience 12/6 months ago is not what maybe current this week. The suggestion of putting a lower purchasing price on the deed went out of the door ages ago. If taking an additional artonery with you to check the checker and it make you warm and more comfortable , great..... like getting a 2nd opinion for a major operation.
  22. By all means check out Abbeyfield, but it is an indepentant living place. I also understand it has a long waiting list and accommodation cost 8,000 to 18,000pesos all Inclusive
  23. I would suggest that there a few seniors living under the radar in the many nursing facilities at Lakeside. The downside is that they can not enroll in IMSS and or SP and must be prepared to pay as you go for medical care. Why not talk directly with the NH mangers and find out the options. Do you really think the INN will track you down if you over stay your tourist visa!!! How many do you see sitting on the bench in Chapala Plaza!!!! Let me make a general statement on all the nursing facilities. Most provided tender loving care , some in new premises , others in converted old and some newer splendid homes. Some (most) have minal qualified staff. Hence all the staff do not get paid a Nurse pay because they are not. Many are Maids working as aides and are paid accordingly. Prices vary from the care needed and the quality of the premises etc., ballpark range $850 to $1800 usd It is unfair to compare NOB cost vis Mexico , because MX does not have the same regulations etc, but most can and do provide good care. Please pay a personal visit to the homes and what you see is what you get (or less). Many have rooms which are shared. Depending on your Mothers condition she may like that. Many do not have ensuite bathrooms but seem to get by by using a commode. Interestingly what you think maybe good for your Mum many not be the facility she will love. Good luck
  24. Do you have any info as to its long term success? (or is she putting in Cortisone)
