He does not speak English but I am encouraging him to attend ESL free classes. If you can use translation on your phone no problem. Our previous gardener was mow blow and go. No gardening. Our new gardener has initiative and can see what needs to be done. He has transformed our yard from a failing area to thriving green. Let me know if you want his contact info. His name is Gustavo. He works Ajijic Chapala Brisis and Chapala hacienda area.
contact info, please

Did you get a written quote from the contractor detailing what work was to be completed and what materials were to be used?
We`re in Mexico.

The pictures posted above were blank for me. The info I have on the 30 LED rechargeable light for 8 hours has Handi Works on the side of it. Model LAME—30-HW. Totally rechargeable with cord electric when you need it the next time. We bought it at the Walmart light bulb section on the bottom shelf. I’m sure it’s not in the same place. Maybe you could check with the new hardware store just east of Ajijic Guadalajara to see if they have something if Walmart doesn’t have a rechargeable light. Mine is very bright. Lights up the whole room. If you want me to send you pictures pm me your email. I sent to another person via email. I think they tried to post the pictures but the frames came up blank for me.
Thanks for the additional info. I`ll check both Walmart and the ferreteria.

I just received 2 spams from the "Lake Chapala reporter and Guadalajara reporter" and am having trouble unsubscribing but finally did. Specially since I never subscribed in the first place. I strongly suggest you do the same.
Mine also go directly into the Spam folder where they belong. I never see them.

Finding Totalplay's web site impossible to navigate.
And can't find one of their flyers.
How to proceed?
Ditto on going to Walmart and initiating service there. There are young people there who speak English and are very accommodating, making sure you get the service. It`s how I got my TP.

We bought 2 chargeable emergency lights a year or so ago. Walmart on the bottom shelf where they sell light bulbs. They are very bright. It has a lower bright setting or higher bright but not much difference. I used mine last night. We were without power all night. It has several lights in a bar. It is recommended when not in use for months plug in every 3 months just to keep it charged. I think light lasts about 6 hours or more. Very bright. If you pm me your email I will send you a photo. I don’t know how to put a picture on here. These lights light up the whole room. The best. Don’t know if Walmart has them now but could send you picture and model and maybe you could order them in Mx. they are a life saver when no power. No candles no flashlight batteries when they are dead when you try to use them.
Thanks so much, sm1mex. Could you post here the brand and model?

Last rainy season when we lost the electric and I was almost out of candles, I went out in the garden and brought in the solar lights. It was dim light, but better than nothing. I also have a wind-up flashlight that requires no batteries and no electrical charging. It even has a USB charging port to get some juice on a dead phone.
Interesting ideas. I`m going to look for a windup flashlight.

These are cheap and great. The batteries are not fancy lantern ones that are difficult to replace. The light is bright, white and annoying. Fine for the purpose. I have a platoon of the little things around the house.

Wow! These look great, just what I was imagining. Thanks so much.

I use two rechargeable lights. They serve as both a flashlight and a standing light. This is similar and there are lots of choices further down the page... Amazon.com: Consciot Rechargeable Camping Lantern Flashlight, LED with 6 Modes, 3600mAh Power Bank, IPX4 Waterproof, Two Way Hook, Portable with USB Cable for Emergency, Camping, Hiking, Outdoor Activities : Sports & Outdoors
The first rechargeable I bought, I got from Steren's so you may want to check there too.
Thanks so much, Ferret. I`ll check these out.

We have emergency lights that remain plugged into outlets throughout the house. They normally act as night lights, but come on fully when the power goes out.
Thanks, chapalence, do you remember where you got them?

Has anyone purchased small battery-powered lamps to put around the house for when the power goes out? Where did you get them? I found nothing satisfactory on Mercado Libre and Amazon Mexico but maybe I was searching incorrectly. Gracias.

I'm beginning to get fewer pesos in exchange for my dollar in the past few weeks. Are we coming to an end of an unprecedented high that has lasted for quite some time?
Lexy
There`s been a downturn since May 1 for the peso but whether that signals a trend is hard to say. The market has been steady with ups and downs since December of 2020.

There is a shop just beside the entrance to the lumber business which is across from Soriana that repairs electrical hand tools.
Yes, the shop is a hardware (ferreteria). The lumber business is called Real Ortega. It`s closed for comida from 2:00 to 3:30.

Just remember one thing..... if ATM LAST question is " do you accept our conversion rate for this transaction ?" press NO
If you press NO then what happens? Do they just not continue with the transaction and not give you money? Or do you they give you a different conversion rate?

Does anyone know about piano tuners coming to Ajijic from Guad for group visits and if there is a ongoing schedule for this that anyone is a part of? Does anyone know the general price range they are currently charging?
There have been numerous posts here about that. Perhaps you could do a search to find them.
