  1. I am always surprised how many Mexicans visit that hospital. If they are affluent, they would have private medical insurance to pay for the tests. It is private medical insurance and the U.S. dollar driving up medical costs. In this area anyways.

San Antonio Hospital seems to have problems attracting technicians who know what they are doing. The Xray department there is excellent. CT and MRI machines, not so much. I had to have a chest xray there about a week ago. I noticed that two incompetent technicians were no longer there. Maybe the hospital has realised they have to make wages higher to attract qualified techs.

I personally know people in Canada who produce CBD oils. The amount of THC in them varies, and they work directly with the people who have medical issues to fiddle with the percentage of THC (or none) in the oils, to come up with what works for a particular customer, just as a regular medical doctor may up or lower levels of medication or change medications for a patient, depending on how they respond.

So you can't just buy stuff over the counter that isn't tested and regulated and assume it has no THC.

Mudgirl, once again you are exactly right. The human body has many receptors, and they vary from individual to individual. They have found that the pain receptors are also the same as the cannaboid receptors. The cannaboids, and terpenes, block the pain receptors. Everybody then is like a huge pile of padlocks. It takes a champion locksmith to open them all.

I get a slight buzz even from medicantes de abuelas. Peyote mushrooms, cannabis, and dicoflonec- surface cream application only. Available up and down the Chapala vendor strip. 160 pesos. Try it Pedro. Mexicans know aches and pains from many, many years of hard work.

And if you are a visitor, bring down a jar of inexpensive cold cream. Empty it, and fill with grandma's cream, otherwise it will never get across the border(s) on your way back home.

  3. As a sculptor I can appreciate more of a hands on approach. With the expensive  cardiogram, the cardio interventionalist can exactly see where they are going, they can zoom in, zoom out, everything is recorded to a DVD. It is really quite simple, if you want the best, second generation cardio interventionalist in Guadalajara to work on you, you need him to perform a cardiogram. In my case, I was given a clear sailing, thank Jehovahstat.

  4. Have been to Dr. Miguel, he seems very knowlegeable. My General Doctor, Dra. Ana Gabriel was very annoyed at him for prescribing a Benzo (lorezapam? diazapam?) for my essential tremor. He didn't warn me about interaction with alcohol, which I already knew about, and the possibility of addictions.  Some Neurologists specialize in muscle skeletal disorders, others on just the brain. First question to them. Based on what and how Dr. Miguel prescribed me I would say he is not a brain doctor. They are rare, because they are snapped up by pharmceutical companies looking for the billion dollar cure. The best ones are younger and are still interested in medical publications and conferences.

The best Neurologist was from Mexico City (CDMX) but then they moved from Guadalajara to Merida.

  5. Permeable grass pavers. Look nice.

Jocotepec measures lawn areas. That is why so many houses there lack front yard lawns. Hope these pavers come to Mexico. This system makes sure the rain gets to the water table, versus runoff to the Lake.

And Tim, you forgot about rain barrels, collect from the gutter. Protect from mosqiters.

  6. What I don't get is why are you paying those (mostly) crooks at Chapala government? I was under the impression you pay SIMAPA and you can choose metered or annual fee.

I don't no where, probably California, they measure your grass area and are taxed accordingly, or forbid watering during shortages. Many are putting in permeable cement. This allows rain water to flow through and then there are open blocks to grow your drought resistant greenery. Others glue down premium astroturf, the worst solution, a concrete pad painted grass green.

Widesky, I'm sure it's there but couldn't find it.

Also, on top of the cost, I'm sure there is a fee for the consultation and the report.

No, all inclusive. Just make sure you are going to a lab which specializes in your condition. Probably Guadlajara since most of the specialists here are from. Ask your cardiologist. Dr. Hector from Quality Care is the best we have around here. Not suitable for nickel squeezers though. As he did with me, he can pick an artery, and send up a camera to your heart. Wont hurt, inside of veins there are no pain nerves.

  8. If you get a chance order pork, beef, and usually turkey from Hannah in Guadalajara. The family has a large farm there. She comes to the Lake once a week for deliveries.

Their pork is a heritage breed, much more "porkier"tasting than usual. Right now, they are butchering 2 wild boars, while quantities last. They do not raise beef but she says they have found a beef supplier which has the best tasting prime rib she has ever had in Mexico. Give her one week to fill the order. They also have a big, commercial smoker and are offering, for example, smoked wild boar pork bellies. She is also working on Chinese BBQ pork strips (Char Sui).

Her Facebook page and # are on Pedro's thread about where to buy pork bellies. Like Pedro, we are also fans of their Boston Butt cuts.

  9. They seem to be only on Facebook.

I think you are describing a steam mop. The trouble here is that the cleaning ladies are afraid of these newfangled gadgets. They are excellent if you have pets because they get itchy and swollen paws from some of the floor soaps we use here.

If you search "vapor cleaners" that will get you lots of hits in the U.S. and Mexico.

Zipit, so sorry you are sad...you will get over it. Your handle name says it all...you live your life and I will live mine!!!

Yah but, this is my planet too bud.

Joni Mitchell is widely recognised as a brilliant song writer and musician. My problem is that I am losing my high frequency hearing. There are only a few female singers that I can properly hear. Joan Jett and Patti Smith come to mind.

Also, you are forgetting that this is a socialist country. The people of Mexico own the Lake, all rivers, streams, the wells, even arroyos. They make the rules to benefit the common good.

  11. I have removed 100s of acres of moss, algae, mold and insects from historic buildings. The tool of choice is a super heated steam cleaner. I have a consumer level steamer here, which would do the job, and are not expensive. There is a local company offering steam cleaning.

The steam " cooks" the organic matter and bugs. Most importantly, this goes down to the roots and kills them. Chlorine just makes the organic matter white, you have come every year because like a grass lawn, it will just grow back. There are two reasons pressure washers should not be used. The first is that weakens or destroys the grout more than the brick. Repointing the mortar, using a professional Mason, and project specific grouts, is not inexpensive. The second is that it creates a big mess. In Vancouver, where I was from, all water and detergents have to be removed from the jobsite. The steam cleaning works up to three years versus an annual haircut.

One tip I can give you is go to a local vet or agricultural store and buy a jar of horse shampoo, containing Laural Sulfate. This is a wetting agent, not a detergent, it loosens the crud, making it easier to remove. It is used for horses because it cleans out the dirt, not the oils. This way the horse does not have frizzy hair. A lot of humans use the 'mane and tail ' cleaners on their own hair, for a nice shiny coat.😊😊

  12. I will be meeting an O'Rourke relative tomorrow. I will ask him. Haven't heard about Lloyd for many years, I think their wheeler dealers are long gone. My parents had a lot of investments in Lloyd in Puerto Vallarta. A lot of people think Lloyd's, as in Lloyd's of London, but no connection at all. In fact Lloyd's of London has faced bankruptcy many times taking bad underwriting conditions.

  13. The problem with U.S. grown russets is the fast food industry. Millions of $ bought by them, usually semi processed and frozen. The industry has very specific sizes the fries should be. This requires the potatoes to stay in the ground much longer to reach this size. The spuds are under constant attack from bugs and diseases. They need constant applications of pesticides, a winter kill, etc.

I have seen for sale seeds for nugget size russets, they may be worth a try.

Our favorite is the Okinawa Sweet Potato. Brilliant purple flesh, not too sweet, and a nice creaminess. We are growing them from a tuber gifted by a friend. They take months to grow. If you see some in a market, buy them, try them, and grow some.

  14. Our english pickled onions using the large root balls of the green onion looking variety turned out to be pretty good. The onion is crunchier, but that couldbe a first time cooking error.

One I have never tried are the wild "ramps" of the U.S. - they have fights in the stores when they start to show up. The main source is on native owned land. So it is a nice gig for the locals. They have never found a way to commercially produce ramps.

Also, interesting, a sweet onion has as much sugar content as an apple.

  15. Another top of the line potato are from Prince Edward Island. They grow in the red soil there, for some reason they have been banned in the U.S.A. at the behest of the powerful lobby group. Someone should import some from the PEI, they would duty free under the new trade agreement.

  16. No Danny Boy, it is what I consider edutainment. I was groomed for that role by Canada's national broadcaster - the CBC., since I was 16, but never took it up. Got the looks, got the foreign vocabulary, inheriated the typing skills.

Anyway, give your behaviour some serious thought . Remember, you have a lot of responsibilites, you like that, but not when deadly pandemics are involved. All you are inspiring is "haters", which I am not. Regardless of your opinions you are a community leader, SO LEAD!

Even the Dumpster is now telling people to get the jab.

  17. You are correct Ferret. Chapala.com, about 15 years ago, was developing a real small town America, redneck, bigoted feel to it. I asked be removed, their own computer tech had no idea how to do that.

Before you pat yourself on the back (no one else will), have a look at the new Super Spreader emoji I created for you. Do you invite me to post it here?
