Teachers and educational staff in Chapala on April 28th received the single-dose CanSino vaccine, not the dual-dose vaccine from Sinovac Biotech.  Therefore, it is incorrect to say that people who received an initial Sinovac shot were denied their second inoculation due to "teachers' priority".

Being denied our 2nd dose has nothing to do with which vaccine was given, but that the VENUE for us was taken over for teachers instead.

WiFi will never giver better results than an Ethernet cable. If the modem is sitting within inches of the TV you might get the same performance..

Not in our experience. Android box is connected via ethernet cable (wifi wasn't cutting it). Firestick is set to wifi.  FS works MUCH better almost all of the time.

Your lawyer is definitely wrong and I would bet my life on it.  Don´t think I would use him for employee compensation matters.....LOL

Just to clarify... he's my landlord who simply happens to be a lawyer. Big difference.  But as to his handling of finiquito solutions (which really has NOTHING to do with OP), you would be wrong. Have been  "intermediary" translator for 3 different foreigners when  disagreement resolution  was required re:  maids or gardeners He did each exceedingly well, and totally to the letter of the law.

Of course, he made a mistake this time. Can't opine.... distraction or ???

  4. Thanks all. I KNOW May 1 is the official day, but many other  official days get bumped to a Monday so a long weekend is achieved. Some Mexican friends here said "yes", others "no".  However, just called my Mexican landlord, who is a lawyer, and he says YES.... puente will be observed on MONDAY.   And has nothing do to with Día de la Santa Cruz......... altho' you need to be prepared for LOTS of noise in some locations for that 😁

  5. Lalo"   (Everardo Garcia)   San Antonio, on Ramón Corona just west of the street that comes down from carretera  near Sunrise Restaurant. ( Ramón Velasquez)   332 136 7295   Speaks English. Does house calls and will tow your car to him if needed.

Has been a miracle worker for us for one pickup(now gone) and two cars. Also for a friend whose highly trusted mechanic of several years told her "you either need a new motor or a new car".  Lalo diagnosed two critical engine "things" that needed replacing, and including his diagnosing, coming and going to get parts, and doing the work  etc., total cost was $2,000.  He then repaired her a/c when the first guy said  "nothing more we can do".

Yesterday instead of replacing something that was falling to pieces in the undercarriage of our small SUV, he took it apart, put the puzzle together, and put it all as it was. Cost? $150  pesos

I wrote my friend who set this up and asked for the information re who she contacted.  She hasn't answered as yet (probably working) but when she does, I'll pass it on here.    (I think Pedro and/or his doctor may be misinformed.)  I asked  my own doctor yesterday and as of now, the shots are not available to private physicians.

That's correct.  The person I referred to earlier would arrange this thru' the vacc people  when ours are ready to be done..

My doctor couldn't get me a home visit because there is no such thing.

The visit i refer to in NOT through your doctor.  And   since my friend didn't know about going to Ajijic to get his missing 1st dose page (was still ambulatory then) , they phoned him at home and delivered that document to him so don't tell me home visits are a total myth.

  8. My elderly Mexican neighbor had his 1st shot in Ajijic. Now has suffered a catastrophic fall (with fractures) , and will need a home visit for 2nd. A local Mexican nurse I know says she will be able to take his documents once our times are announced and, via "people she knows", will be able to arrange a home visit for him.  Maybe she can help you too?

I don’t question your response. But (just asking) where did you get the info about the Cansino vaccination for teachers in Chapala?

    (1) Guadalajara channel 4 TV news     (2)  Informador newspaper on line

Being done according to school district in which they work, not by their home address.  Two MEGA locations in Guad. 11 other  locations throughout the state, with live TV coverage yesterday and today from Guad and Chapala sites in news broadcasts.  Appears really well organized,                   with alphabetical order PLUS  "booked" arrival times.

........ when I found Guterman here, I was so excited, only to find out it isn't the same- not nearly as smooth- it's not as fuzzy as the Seralon, but still harder to get through the needle than what I was used to.

Me again..... you made me so curious I checked my sewing box. (Covid boredom motivation.... what can I say?) Box even contains thread so old it's on wooden spools  🤣🤣 .  Found Gutterman bought in Canada and in Mexico.  BUT.... and this is really odd..... one from Canada, product of Germany  says silk finish on the spool  and is is thinner than the Mexican variety. Another from Canada, also made in Germany but without "silk finish"  is fatter.:017:

Be aware the one on mercadolibre is an older version. You can tell by looking at the remotes.

Alpha1  is the person to respond to this. When i bought mine, he said to get the "older" version-----  can't remember why and don't care---- but he had a "good" reason  and he can weigh in. Pretty sure the ML one is what  I bought.

I don’t understand, SECOND SHOTS NOR RECEIPTS WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR SENIORS.

It means they are doing TEACHERS this week, and they are using Cansino (single dose) shots.  No seniors will be allowed..... not the right vaccine, and simply not your (or my) turn yet even tho' our similar group is being done this week in 2 locations in Joco.

They'll get to us soon.  They're now accepting pre- registrations (mivacuna site) for 50-59

I know- I sew for a living and when I found Guterman here, I was so excited, only to find out it isn't the same- not nearly as smooth- it's not as fuzzy as the Seralon, but still harder to get through the needle than what I was used to.

Gee my friend..... I find it thinner, really pretty smooth.  Of course I don't do the heavy work you do. But it's still stronger and lasts a lot longer than Seralón.... and for the clothing I make and wear for YEARS,   Seralón requires over-sewing from time to time as it literally wears out, so have quit using except for mending  stuff that's nearly ready to toss anyway.

KARINA:  You won't pay that if you happen to be in Guad for other purposes.

So harking back to Lexy's original Post which seems like an eternity ago....  I'll bet at this point she is sorry she asked with all the one-upmanship and half-truths going on.

She had a simple question. Unless she is somewhat technical the purchase of a Firestick gets her nowhere.  Is this "Rich" fellow still around or is he the one who 'departed'? She may not be into 'side-loading' or Kodi or VPNs or ???

Is there a simple solution to her basic "2-needs" question aside from Shaw or Dish? Something she won't have to modify every couple of months to keep it running?

We have a Firestick 4K........and trust me, Aplha 1 knows me and knows I CANNOT do basic 1st time programming set-up. I know Lexy.... she could not either!(no criticism implied).

Rich programmed ours when it arrived(hugely reasonable rate for this, plus an operating lesson next day  in my house), and has returned once for a re-program of some kind I didn't understand but was a  total system "upgrade" initiated by??? over which I had no control --- mystified me, but he did it in about 5 minutes. . (Not to be confused with ONE viewing app needing an update, which anyone can do). And yes, unless YOU choose to pay for some some special apps (we have more FREE than we use) it's  totally free.

Bad news..... unless something has changed VERY recently, Amazon does not ship the "4K" model to Mexico.... so you have to find a mule.

LEXY..... phone me if you want to know more.

  15. I don't think anyone out here sells good quality thread any more but would be HAPPY for someone to prove me wrong!

I get mine in Guad when needed, and even then the Gutterman made in Mexico different than what I brought from the north many years ago. But it certainly is better than the thicker, local stuff like Seralón, etc. There's a small sewing section inside the papelería in San Antonio right next to Mario's restaurant.  Chapala has a small fabric store (kitty-corner from bus station at east end) but I didn't see Gutterman there either.
