I have POA to sell a friends house in Ajijic. Where is a good safe institute to put the sales proceeds for a couple of years.

And the friend isn't going to have any input??   Hhmmmmm....  Please remember, the higher yield instruments are not gov't insured and none of these places wants to be really clear and up front with you about that.

Has anyone tried reading their QR code.? We have 2 certificado and not seeing any info. The QR on my CURP gives me information

Just got our certs... apparently Sunday morning is a good time 😄 IMO you don't need to care about the QR code. The fine print at the bottom right tells you in both languages that it's for validating the document for anyone (eg travel?) interested, THEY can scan the QR code or enter the salud.gob etc. page.  Yes, your CURP should come up. Then the process has to be followed to take you past that to the original certificate relative to this particular QR code..

Thanks a lot  , he will love it. He come here when my friend the painter comes and stays late to be with him . I think he is studying and working now but he will love the extra pointers and help.

What a FINE young man!  Spent some time with him on brushes, backgrounds, mahl stick, and talking a little about his abuela. Seemed like a pretty happy camper as he headed out......  gave me a big hug and promised to stay in touch.  Explained "pay it forward" to him and said it's now his turn.... when the opportunity arises. .... and he thought that was pretty good concept.  HAPPY day for me too 🤩

Thank you Natasha. Martin was at work when I spoke with him and he was super happy. He told me he would connect with you.  He just lost his grand mother  , he was very close to her.so has been down. She was the lady who got hit by a motorcycle in Ajijic a few weks ago and it was nice to hear him  be happy.

I just took my cel to be fixed as I dropped it and broke the screen. So for right now we can communicate via the PM .. until saturday.

HAPPY to report Martín is coming today to pick up the goodies. Thanks for the heads-up about his abuela.  I'll take a little time with him, if he wants, to demo a few pointers re: use of a couple of the fine detail brushes plus "solid" color backgrounds that really aren't, and help with any other questions I'm able to answer.

My maid´s son paints and is very good at it. He has limited funds and now is in his first year at the university of Guadaljara. He studies at home right now and hgave up his room in Guadalajara. I have a painter friend who gives him classes when he comes and stay at my house. The suppkies would be great.

I can put you in touch with him if you would like to speak with him. His name is Martin. Let me know if the supplies are still availablae and wil tell him tomorrow.

BMH: my  paints are  acrylic.  Most of the other stuff is "universal". I'd like to  help him IF he doesn't paint in oils. Call me  376 766 3580

CHILLIN:  Will see how this goes. If not, will be in touch.

  6. Excellent!  But remember.... my stuff is all FREE. If they know of someone/more than would like to have it, I can bring it to you.

  7. Ten years since I re-started painting with a vengeance,  but now aging eyes and hands no longer produce to my standards, and I've pretty much lost interest anyway. So I'd like to find a young Mexican with the passion and desire, but maybe not the funds who'll receive a large selection of partially used tubes of professional rated acrylics,  brushes of all shapes and sizes, some palette knives and a palette, etc. FREE....   a small way to again "pay it forward".

Yes I know there may be places (eg LCS) but want to explore this route first.  Please post here or send a PM.

I am almost to the point, no vacuna card, no business. You are not coming into our house, we are not taking your taxi, with no properly fitting mask, we are not coming into your store. Our most regular taxi driver, real nice and informative guy, but he thinks going to church once a week is his vaccine.

The way to get people to vaccinate is to hit them in the pocketbook. No one knows if the highly contagious Delta 1 can overide your vacuna. Please keep wearing your masks

    Sent you a PM

  9. Late in jumping in here because I was not sure what you meant by "mytv black box"...... but IF you are referring to an android box for TV we found that hooking ours up directly to the modem via flat Ethernet USB cable improved the performance incredibly.

Sadly I then messed up the box (Derek no longer here to resolve my mess) and we ended up buying a Firestick, which works well enough  here in lower SAT, and the box is sitting here unused.

So if you or anyone else would like a MECOOL M8S Pro W android box (and the flat cable  if needed) I'll make you a good deal!  But you'll have to know how to re-program it for your modem, other settings, etc. because I am (obviously) totally clueless in that area.

Good to know about both Mike and Luis.  I have a desk top and if needed do either, or both make house calls.

Normally Mike does, but has not been during CoV times. He does, however, receive desktop towers (and laptops etc) at his home in Riberas, does whatever is need, and lets you know to come and pick up.  He was able to recover all my documents and photos from the fried one, and even modified Windows 10 installed  to work like Win 7 for me!!

As of the 3 "sad" responses to my earlier reply.... don't really understand  and am confused.  Did I word it poorly or ??

  11. Desktop or laptop? Spanish or English setup/keyboard? Answers will determine whether you can "wait" or not.....

Mike the Computer guy built me a new desktop when mine died in January... excellent job!  376 765 4156

mail:  mike@ajijiccomputing.com         leaving a phone message in case he does not  answer works best for me

  12. Last time I was there (not recently) the shoemaker shop in Chapala first right turn above the plaza and a couple of blocks east (left side at a T-intersection) had every type and length of shoelaces you could imagine.... and some you could not. Give them a try.

We've had a number of spayed male cats but never one that seemed to retain so much tom cat personality.  Reading up on this I found out that this is very typical of male cats spayed relatively late.  In Max's case, he was probably about two.

Happy for Max!  Would love to know the name of dietary supplement.

There is one thing nobody may have considered.   I adopted a neutered male cat when he was about 2. He was a perfectly normal boy until age 5, when he suddenly exhibited all the signs of non-neutered behaviour....... including spraying in the house.  And pee was stinky, like  a tom cat.  Took him to be checked. Vet confirmed he had probably had one  undescended testicle, and at original job that  vet did not go inside (tougher surgery) to look for the other one. So much later, it "activated" and changed his outlook on life.  It's not common, but I've seen it several times since with 2 surgeries required same day.

Bad news... at that age (and certainly at Max's) they can't go in and look for the other one as would be totally embedded and too dangerous.  And even if they COULD find it,   missing even one teensy portion would be the same as not doing anything at all.  Clue to whether this is the issue or not is the smell.

And many pats to Max for  learning to be an indoor boy!!! To you MC... in my experience Max will adjust better if he never goes out than if he has supervised privileges.... your call.

No Web presence, but understandable. Did find this on tripadvisor: https://www.tripadvisor.com.mx/Restaurant_Review-g7008636-d8631497-Reviews-La_Carretilla-San_Antonio_Tlayacapan.html

Says excellent tortillas and daily guisos.

That also led to a place called La Gaucheria, but even with Google maps and streetview I couldn't find it.

Clicked on your  link. Gives street address in San Antonio (which is not correct in any case) but the actual map takes you to Ajijic  🤔  Que? But thanks fro trying.

Picked him up this morning, fever broken, he's eating and of course trying  to get outside and do it all again.

YAY for Max!!  Now get that  outdoor enclosure ready....  Mtn Mama's suggest of heavier duty screen is worth it.  We have it on any screen doors between in and out to discourage cats trying to break thru regular metal mosquito screen. Only need to go part way up.  And if you put a cat door between house and outer area (from inside the house), he can come and go daytime, and then you can close the door when you're ready  for him to call if a night .

That may be true in Canada. It is not true in many countries.

IF you were correct, ML, then areas like Los Redes, Seis Esquinas, and other parts of towns lakeside that are like named subdivisions in a northern city would all be bound by fracc. rules, fees, and dues.   HAVING rules, fees, dues, board of directors, and commonality is part of what makes fraccs. a fracc.

  17. 2 minutes ago, Ferret said:

I sure don't know about the U.S. but, in Canada, a subdivision is a totally different definition. It is not a fracc and it is not a condo. It is freehold and there are no dues to pay to an association for anything.

Right on Ferret. ML is being a little  misleading by calling them the same, although in some ways they are similar. I do, however, get your point too ML. But your family is different.... they know what's what here, they make  decisions and know the rules and risk/benefits ahead of time.

My comment was directed at people who come to Lakeside with the express  intention to get behind (usually) guarded gates and walls so they can live among other foreigners and keep away from having/learning the Mexican way of life. These are the among the ones who mostly get their knickers in a twist as soon as they realize, not having bothered to read the fracc. rules when buying, that there's a price to pay for all that sociability and convenience".

  18. Forgot to share!  Thursday morning Guad TV news said they were 97% complete on the 4 km as of Wednesday last, and will OPEN the road each way ... with contra-flow lane  removed......as of today (Friday).    A.M.?  P.M. ?? Who cares.... it's happening! 😁

I had originally understood they would move to the the inbound lanes when west side was finished. But I either misunderstood or they are going to wait for later. The rainy season WAS mentioned, but I was only partly paying attention at story start so didn't catch the reason for that referral. Certainly makes sense they would not try and do the work with rain pelting down.
