  1. Alpha 1, I have discussed this topic so much that I don't remember if I have said anything on this forum but I see I never updated this post as I said I would. Dra. Justina sent us to another doctor in Guadalajara for the stem cells because my husband was extremely ill and needed medical specialists at the same time as we were experimenting with the stem cells. It took about 3 months for my husband to see results in the blood work. The lymphopenia became less and less until he was back to normal. It took longer for the T-cells and B-cells to recover ... and even longer for his immune system to recover. It is now at the 10 month mark and it appears that he is fully recovered. It was a very rough go. There were 2 times during the last 10 months that we thought he wasn't going to make it and had it not been for the stem cells he probably would not have. His medical specialist witnessed the transformation of his blood cells and they say it is either a miracle or the stem cells so one can choose what one believes. He wound up taking 250,000 stem cells within a period of a couple of months. My husband's results are very evident in the blood work. Before the stem cells he had severe lymphopenia for nearly a year and his immune system was non-existent. Now his blood work is normal. I also took 100,000 stem cells. My fibromyalgia and severe stomach problems appear to be behind me for which I am very grateful. Again, this didn't happen over night. I took stem cells in May of last year and it took a few months for me to really see the difference. Then one day it dawned on me that I was not experiencing the daily bone pain and soreness nor was I having constant diarrhea. As to Dr. Justina, I would trust her to tell me who to see and what can possibly be done. Knowing that everyone is different. As to Dr. Francisco Arroyo, he is absolutely the most excellent doctor. His team operated on my neck when it was absolutely necessary and did a fantastic job. When I was having problems again with my neck and one of the doctors here told me that I needed surgery right away or I would be in a wheelchair ... we headed straight for Dr. Arroyo and his team. They said absolutely NO to the surgery and wrote up instructions and worked with Dra. Justina here lakeside using therapy only to take care of the problem. I was not aware that Dr. Arroyo was using stem cells, but I am not at all surprised. Again, another doctor that I would trust with my life.
  2. They have been doing this for years ... not a new practice. Used them once ... was ripped off royally. When I commented on this several years ago I was ripped a new one by posters taking up for them and saying how great they were. Guess the word is finally out.
  3. We have one that was used for about an hour. If we could get half price would be happy. We need to check and see how much they are new as we can't remember. We bought this one last year for a little foster dog but I decided to just hold her instead 😊. We won't be back Lakeside until Friday evening. Let me know if you are interested.
  4. VC1180 go up to the upper right hand corner and you will see where you can search subjects on this forum. Just type in the word beach and run through some of the threads and you will find many places that are recommended.
  5. Thanks for bringing this to our attention, Computer Guy. We had lunch there today and the food was excellent. Spouse had breaded shrimp with sides of vegetables and pasta. I had salmon on a bed of veggies and side of pasta. We will certainly be going back to try other dishes. Service was excellent.
  6. I wasn't fond of his food but he was always very accommodating to us. We too have followed him around as he opened new restaurants. I am so sorry for his family and for the loss we are all feeling.
  7. You know it is really easy to unfollow him. That is what I did, however, it doesn't do any good I see when others have not done the same. 😒
  8. Also, read my post. I had an adjuster and a lawyer. Silly me thought the insurance company would send a decent lawyer.
  9. Chillin, not my experience. The police did care and would not move the cars until the insurance representative arrived. Had insurance, the insurance rep., and a lawyer and still went to jail. It was not my fault but there was a bad injury. Until the injured was attended to in a Guadalajara hospital and the lawyer obtained a "Letter of Forgiveness" the thought of letting me out was not even entertained. It was a Friday so we were told we had to pay $5000.00 pesos to open the MP office in order to process the paperwork in order for me not to spend the weekend in jail. Very nasty place. Just don't have an injury accident (even though it isn't your fault and someone runs a red light and plows into the back of your car).
  10. Thanks everyone for your helpful and encouraging comments.
  11. We will be driving to Mazatlan in the near future and are wondering if anyone has made this trip lately. Do you have any advise or pointers that you would like to share? Did you find the drive safe? We will be driving in the daylight hours. Thanks.
  12. Chillin, to answer your direct question with my opinion. I think you might be on to something. I will not purchase the seeds and find the pots, soil, then water etc. etc. BUT, if you fixed them all up already in an attractive wire cage and gave me directions on their care and told me in a while I could have home grown tomatoes all through the year I would definitely purchase a couple!! I applaud you for thinking outside the box on this one and if you decide to do this please post it because I don't always get to the Tuesday or Monday or Wednesday or Thursday or Friday market!!! I do know that we, our housekeeper's family and our neighbors are enjoying the heck out of our Hass avocados that come right off the tree in our garden .... plus, the fat, juicy limes that our beautiful little tree produces. We are having fun watching our other fruit trees blossom and grow .... so, yes, tomatoes growing in a cage would be great!
  13. Does anyone know who does cyclone fences?
  14. jonnyintrouble, we installed one of these ceilings in a house we remodeled in 2005. It is still there and have had no problems with bugs, etc. Also, there are tiles on the top ... it doesn't have loose leaves outside like a palapa.
  15. I know I can probably look up the address or call the phone number and ask but wouldn't it be nice since you are advertising your restaurant to put the address for the convenience of potential customers?
  16. Need gas in Ajijic or east to Chapala if anyone hears.
  17. You are talking about Dra. Justina not Christina. Phone number:. 766-5563 with 376 in front of the number if calling from a cell.
  18. I second Dra. Justina. I had rotator cuff surgery on my left shoulder ... It was too far gone. She and her therapists did the pt. Then when I started having problems with the right shoulder she did therapy for several weeks and it's been great a a few years now. She is very good and the price is very reasonable. The treatment includes laser therapy, ultrasound therapy, tens unit with moist heat and massage.
  19. Rudy at the granite store on the west side of town. In strip center with Crisco Hair Salon down the street from Dental Express.
  20. There was a line, sunshine 59, when we passed about 9 a.m. this morning but we couldn't tell if they had gas.
  21. We have been twice now. The service is the best around, the food could not have been better, the place is very attractive, they have room for more tables as traffic picks up which it will I am betting. The music is soft and appealing. There are small shops around with beautiful and interesting items for sale. They may have made a mistake with the price of their wine in the beginning but the level of planning and care that they put into this endeavor was not small. I truly enjoy eating off of attractive dishes and having utensils that are good quality. The food is presented in an attractive manner and more than that is extremely good. There is something for everyone .. we can go with our friends that are Vegan, Vegetarian and Gluten intolerant. I have read posts for other restaurants where people were not happy with the dishes because they were not spicy enough ... weeeeelllll, give this a try as it will make your brow very humid However, that is not my thing so they tone it down for me. The portion sizes have been more than generous and I think their Pad Thai with chicken and shrimp is the very best we have had. If you haven't tried this restaurant, do yourself a favor and give it a whirl. I think you will be glad you did.
  22. Our preference here Lakeside is Ajijic Hospital where we have also been very well served and not price gouged. When my husband had his first heart problems we went immediately to Ajijic Hospital where Dr. Rodriguez did an EKG and advised that we needed to call our Cardiologist. We did and Dr. Rodriguez talked to him and it was decided we would be able to drive ourselves into Guadalajara to the hospital. I also had treatment for a very bad infection at Ajijic Hospital at the direction of our infectious disease specialist to Dr. Rodriguez. This was much easier and much less expensive than staying in a hospital in Guadalajara for IV treatment. We were treated very well and everything was clean. This has been several years ago at this point but even though we use Quality Care specialists now we would not hesitate to go to Ajijic Clinic for these types of purposes. We have had occasion to use Cruz Rojo twice. In fact, the first time was when my husband had that first problem with his heart and fell to the floor. Cruz Rojo arrived in minutes and did not take us to their clinic but to Dr. Rodriguez as we requested. I don't know why this happened if this is not their policy but that was what they did that time. They would not take any money from us so we went later and made a donation. The only other time we used them was for a scorpion sting and we were charged a nominal fee. As I said, this was several many years ago. San Javier and Angeles del Carmen are excellent hospitals but they are also more expensive than the ones we have chosen to use. We have also been told by several doctors that the care and equipment (at least for the problems that we have had) is not any better than the hospitals I mentioned before. As to Mascaras. I totally agree that the primary care doctor there will keep you coming back whether he knows what is wrong with you are not. That was our experience when we first arrived here 13 years ago and I have seen that practice continue with friends. We have used 2 specialists there that were very good and did not over charge or keep us on the hook, however. I watched a very good friend die a painful and horrible death at the hands of doctors at the Hospital Civil in Guadalajara. Two of their doctors just could not decide whether or not she needed gallbladder surgery right now or give medication and wait. They gave medication twice and waited until it was too late. We visited when she was in a coma, yellow and dying. The place was filthy, people sitting and laying and eating in the halls, kids crying. She was in a ward with 4 other people, the one next to her was coughing his guts out. Of course, the germs didn't matter at that point. I would never, ever recommend a public hospital due to this experience that will stay with me forever. This is my only personal and up close experience with IMSS but I have heard others that had apparently a great experience. Personally, I would not take the chance with IMSS or Seguro Popular.
  23. For heart attacks and strokes: Hospital México Americano Guadalajara. Tel.: (33) 3648-3333. Colomos No. 2110. Colonia Ayuntamiento Guadalajara Jal, México C.P. 44620 . For any other problems there are several many that are very good. Among them are: Hospital Real San Jose, Calz. Lázaro Cárdenas 4149, Jardín de San Ignacio, 45040 Zapopan, Jal., Phone: 33 1078 8900 Sanatorio San Francisco De Asis., Av. de las Américas 1946, Country Club, 44610 Guadalajara, Jal.. Phone: 33 3817 5017 Hospital Country 2000 , Av. Cvln. Jorge Álvarez del Castillo 1542, Chapultepec Country, 44620 Guadalajara, Jal., Phone: 33 3854 4500 There are several many others. Some are more expensive than others and I have not listed the most expensive ones here. I have only listed the ones with which we have personal experience. The practice here is, however, that your doctor will tell you which hospital he/she prefers you use and he/she will give you a couple or three choices. This is based upon his/her experience with the hospital and the supporting staff and equipment for his/her specialty. Of course, if you don't have a doctor to call in case of an emergency, then I would strongly suggest that you interview several that are available here at Lakeside and when you pick a general practitioner give him/her your complete medical history so if there is an emergency then someone will already know you medically. It is our experience that your doctor will provide you with his/her cell phone. You are able to get in touch with them 24/7 in case of an emergency and they will direct you on the next step. We have had the occasion to call our doctors in the middle of the night and they responded immediately by answering the phone .... once, the heart specialist was in the middle of surgery and had someone in the room take the call and direct us on the course of action to take in our emergency and then met us at the hospital when he finished surgery. The medical care here is the best we have ever experienced but, of course, we only have the U.S. for comparison. It is also a good idea to type up and print your medical history along with all your personal information (name, address, phone number, insurance and insurance agent, RFC#, current medication, past serious illnesses, on-going problems, allergies, etc. This is very helpful when you sit down for your first appointment and also each time you go to the hospital. If I may suggest you see someone at Quality Care that is located on the Libramiento (there are 2 clinics located near each other but we prefer Quality Care). This clinic has multiple specialists along with primary care doctors that all work together as a team. Your primary care doctor would then have a specialist at his/her fingertips to call on for you in any emergency.
