  1. We ate there for lunch today. The special was chili relleno (you could choose either cheese or hamburger) served on a bed of rice. It was very tasty but not sufficient for a full meal. The next time we will order a side of beans or something. As it was, we were fine as I ordered chicken fajitas which were very good ... and I gave one to my husband which rounded out his meal. This was not TexMex ... but very good and tasty. When we go back I will take a container of grated cheddar cheese with me and I will be a happy customer!! The limonada was excellent and the service could not have been better. We will be back to try other things. The prices were very reasonable.
  2. We just made a round trip to Seattle on Volaris. Just a couple of things ... take your own water and snacks. You have to purchase everything. Also, when we were in Seattle we stopped and bought ourselves a cushion for the flight back as there was very little cushion in the seat. Ours was a 5 hour flight and the one to Houston is only a little over 2 hours so it might not be that big of a deal. We drive to Houston from time to time. We don't drive at night ... and we don't drive over 8 hours so we wind up spending the night 2 nights .. one in Matehuala and one in Laredo. The toll roads are also pretty expensive and then there is gas and food. Think a Volaris flight would be a better deal if you don't need a car.
  3. We looked at El Parque when we first came down 14 years ago. We just don't prefer living that close and having so little privacy when on our terrace, etc. I know that many people love it ... it is just a personal preference. We wound up purchasing in Chapala Haciendas II, as I said and enjoyed the quiet and the space very much .... until we didn't.
  4. They may have been referring to the repair taking place where an approximate 3 meter deep sinkhole occurred the other night. Our friend saw a large dark spot and thinking it strange skirted it ... The car behind him fell in the hole.
  5. Ian Greenwood: "Anyone who goes to a restaurant which has been open less than a week and posts an extremely negative review probably received the food and service they deserved .... lemmings perhaps ?" ..... this is what I get when I post. Smarts just a little for someone to be so caustic. If food or service is bad ... it is bad and should be reported as such for those of us that don't have so much money that it doesn't matter if you throw some of it away. There are those that have enjoyed this chicken, so now when we decide to go, we will at least know to watch what is coming out of the kitchen, pay attention to the smell of the place ... if all is good that day, then we will probably enjoy the chicken also. But if it isn't we will know that if we are getting "take-out" not to trust and to look at it before we pay and walk out the door.
  6. Wonder where Ian Greenwood is? If I had posted something so negative about a new restaurant he would not have remained silent!! But maybe he doesn't consider this a restaurant. At any rate, thanks for the picture along with the warning ... we were headed there yesterday and got waylaid ... glad we did now.
  7. Well, there you go!! Thanks for that information, Bisbee Gal, because this is exactly what the food is ... comida Mexicana. Similar to other Mexican restaurants here and if that is what people are going there to experience they will have a great time. We had not seen the FB page and was going by the recommendation on this Board that called it Tex-Mex and our taste buds were soooooooooo ready for some. I have been told that Mexicans do serve their food lukewarm to cold but I have not had that experience in a very long time. So, this is probably the real deal.
  8. Also, I am remembering when Mr. Greenwood said very negative things about my posting of the Southern Sisters that did not serve Southern food. When I posted that Southern sweet tea doesn't come unsweetened and cream gravy isn't the consistency of milk, and that biscuits were not corn muffins, etc. he was upset about that as well. Unfortunately, they didn't change their recipes nor did they learn how to cook and it is now a very good pet place.
  9. I did think we had waited a couple of weeks. We were not disturbed at having to wait as we knew it was a new endeavor and was willing to give them the benefit of having kinks. What I am saying is that this is not Tex-Mex food for anyone going there expecting Tex-Mex. You don't make cheese enchiladas with dry, flaky cheese that doesn't melt....you just don't. Now, if you like that kind of cheese in your enchiladas you will be absolutely ecstatic because it is plentiful. I will repeat that the guacamole was excellent, the service from the waiters was great, the ice tea was very good. I don't like runny beans and cold dry Mexican rice. Now, those two things may be tweaked and it might be a one time thing ... However, the recipes for the enchiladas may not change but then again we will try them in a month or so and see if time has changed the recipes. I was not trying to be as negative as it sounded ... just wanting people to know that though you may love the food, it isn't Tex-Mex!
  10. Not Tex-Mex. Cheese enchiladas are made with either a Mexican cheese or some kind of dry, flaky cheese that doesn't melt. The guacamole was excellent. The service was good in that they came out every 20 minutes to see if we wanted more tea and to apologise for it taking over an hour to get our food. They had "a large party of five people" and the kitchen was having a hard time. Our food finally arrived ..cold. No not lukewarm ... cold. They very nicely apologized once again and took it back to heat it. Cheese still didn't melt but the tortilla around it was now soggy. The ice tea was good. Again, not Tex-Mex.
  11. Unfortunately, you may be out of luck. Found the following on Google: Parkinson Disease, RLS Treatment Ropinirole Hydrochloride To Be Discontinued. ... The FDA has announced the upcoming discontinuation for Parkinson disease and restless legs syndrome treatment ropinirole hydrochloride (Requip, GlaxoSmithKline).Jan 4, 2019
  12. Slainte39, how comfortable are you paying a year in advance? We went by to see Ajijic Electronics as we really enjoyed having Shaw but after the other provider took our money and ran, we are just a little wary about paying a year in advance.
  13. Thanks all. We have been talking to Francine but she has not been able to get enough equipment for her existing clients. She took our receiver (I think it is called) and she is trying to work with Shaw and the lady that left with the money in order to get the account paid and free and clear. Then we would, I think, rent the receiver back from her and she would supply the address ... Lord, I don't know how this works. Anyway, would love to stream but our internet is not fast enough in Chula Vista.
  14. Who are you getting your Shaw service from down here? Our provider we have used for over 10 years took our last payment and left the country without a word. We found out when our television no longer worked because she didn't make the payment required.
  15. Please read my post on the Ajijic/Guadalajara forum. The sitters were not the bad guys here.
  16. What's being reported is the couple had emailed the owner on Sunday last to let her know they were having to leave because her roof was leaking so badly. They told her they were taking the cat and would care for it until she got home ....the problem was the owner didn't see the email apparently 😞. So the house sitters were not the bad guys.
  17. I have shared this information on the pet forum but I am also posting it here as more people read this forum. If the moderators think this inappropriate I will remove it. There is a lady, Jennifer Davies, that has posted on FaceBook that her house/pet sitters last communicated with her on August 4. They apparently left her home in a hurry and took the cat. Their names are Pamela and Daniel Chavis. Jennifer is wondering if anyone knows them or is renting to them ... if anyone knows whether or not these people are okay themselves and whether or not they are still in the area. If you have any information to share please go to her fb page and let her know. If you are not on facebook then you can private message me and I can post a private message to her. Her cat looks to be a medium to long haired, apricot colored cat with a white tipped tail and other white markings.

  19. Double cream brie can be found at Costco. Also, at times Walmart and Super Lake.
  20. Since the original post wasn't about fishing or how good the sandwiches are ... there's no fish and chips to be had at this restaurant. However, if a pear and brie sandwich on nut bread substitutes for fish and chips with your taste buds then we have it on good authority you will be satisfied.😊
  21. We were there a couple of days ago. They have changed their menu. No more fish and chips and no more tacos. There was nothing on the menu for lunch that we were interested in because we were wanting a more substantial meal so we went somewhere else. So sorry they changed the menu as we really liked the fish and chips and tacos.
  22. I highly recommend Lakeside Care. There is a post from them on this thread. They helped me with my Mom though we kept her at home. They supplied the nurses and they were supervised very closely. Ron and Sarah can't be beat in my opinion. They offer a wide range of services.
  23. Unfortunately there are very few restaurants that make people with dogs leave. I have seen the staff at Mom's tell people they have to leave their dog outside.
  24. Computer Guy, that is an unbelievably funny story ... but only if it were fiction. I am a dog lover down to my bones and only a couple of times have I been aggravated by a dog in a restaurant. But this does take the cake. When they start barking at each other and being allowed to "visit" the tables it is time to speak up. Also, you describe this place as being small ... that is not a place for one dog much less 3!
  25. Let me be clear. These were not the children of the owners are the staff. They were customers that let their kids run wild. As soon as the staff knew the children had licked the condiments they removed them ... some had to be thrown out and others were able to be cleaned ... which they proceeded to do while we were there. The place was plenty clean and the owners and staff handled the situation the best they could without asking a large party of about 10 or 12 to leave.
