  1. If you personally have used Dra Lulu for your pets' care, would you let me know if you were satisfied with her professionally or not? Lexy
  2. So is their place near the new Pancho's also called Elegante? That's the Pancho's in Riberas? I need to double-check everything these days. That's how my mind works theses days. . . it needs constant reassurance I'm headed in the right direction. Lexy
  3. Listen, folks, when when my husband and I got here in 1997 the weather was exactly as the tourist guide books said: May is the hottest month of the year, then sometime in June the rains begin. And for years that remained dependable weather guidance. But we all know in recent years the weather has been all over the place, totally screwed up all around the world. Our personal predictions here now are just for the fun of it--and whoever wins that lottery. I loved last night's (5/19) rain storm. I bet we all did, except for some of our dogs, scared, trembly and miserable as usual. Lexy
  4. Dr. Delfino the vet is also a meteorologist? Who knew? Lexy
  5. I need a driver for round trips to Guadalajara in months to come to take me to Santa Lucia eye clinic. I live in Mirasol (Riberas). I'd appreciate recommendations for a reliable person, with comfortable and air conditioned sedan, who knows GDL well. (I can't climb in and out of anything bigger than a sedan.) Thanks if you can help. Lexy
  6. Thanks, Lakeside7. I have no trouble parking at Actinver/Ajijic. Other problems are driving me to close my current account there, after many years. Thanks to all others for suggesting the newest Intercam. I'm aware of the one with the better parking and I'm heading there ASAP. Sounds good. Lexy
  7. I need suggestions in replacing my long-time Actinver/Ajijic account with another Ajijic bank. My main bank is in the USA and I plan to keep it active. It's USAA, where my monthly Social Security check goes. USAA serves me well. However I'd like to continue having a peso account with a Lakeside bank for convenience. English-speaking staff, parking and location matter to me. I live in Mirasol. If you have a suggestion, post here or with a PM, please. Lexy
  8. Mainecoons--This article link, dated December '22, refers to somethinng about to happen in January. January '23 has come and gone. An on-going very curious situation, isn't it. Lexy
  9. Lakeside 7, I so agree. And it's not just restaurants choosing poor-parking locations. Consider the group of popular (young) ophthamologists who chose to set up their area location on a very-hard-to park busy street plus offices two flights up, a hardship for their mostly elderly patients. Lexy
  10. I do generous to her and and affordable for me. My cleaning woman (I have no idea if she's a lady) is happy, I'm happy. Lexy
  11. I'm about to check them out (tomorrow). Thanks.
  12. Thanks, Artsnob--but then I'd have to use one of those shippers. More expensive. If I use local post office, I can return pillows at no shipping cost with a label from Amazon. So all I need is a box. (!) The pillows arrived shrink-wrapped
  13. What is/where is Mexico General?
  14. Hi, everyone. I'm not necessarily looking for a free box. I need to know where to buy one in a place that's easy for me to reach. Does Walmart carry boxed for sale that can be used to mail 2 bed pillows, is my question. I have problems of mobility.
  15. Thanks, chapalence, I know about the west Ajijic recycle center. However, I'm trying to buy a box the easiest possible way I can. A drive to Walmart works for me. So back to my question. . .
  16. I need a mailing box to fit two queen bed pillows. If you know for sure that Walmart in Ajijic/San Antonio carries boxes I can use to mail 2 queen-size pillows in, please let me know. Lexy
  17. I deleted my post as it wasn't pertinent. Please excuse. Lexy.
  18. Can anyone recommend a capable person to do a gas stove repair? None of the burners can be turned down to a proper low flame when needed and food is getting burned. It's not a difficult fix, as shown on the internet, but I don't want to attempt it myself. Landlord's guy was no good. Can anyone give me a name and number of a good person to call, please? I live in Riberas. Lexy
  19. I need the address of the Chapala Post Office, please. I could use directions also. I live in Mirasol, Riberas. Lexy PS: By email I was informed this morning that I needed to mail some forms to the US consulate or I would not receive my March SS check. I filled out the forms and am ready to mail them. ishopp says it doesn't take mail for Guadelajara. So I must get to Chapala p.o. to mail these forms. lexy
  20. Shoshana--My brilliant idea was playful. A joke. Not serious. Foolin' around. Impractical, you got it.
  21. I just had a great idea (which will never see the light of day). What if doctors had to include on their resumes their standing in medical school after graduation. For example: Dr ABC, #1 in class of 450. Or Dr XYZ, #449 in class of 450. Of course, if practice makes perfect maybe that wouldn't be fair? Lexy People: The brilliant idea above is me fooling around. I saw a need to point this out. Lexy
  22. I lived most of my adult life in Manhattan. Anyone seeking medical help there runs the chance of meeting up with both good docs and some very bad ones. Bad ones, like good ones, are everywhere. We just have to be as cautious as we can be. That's life (or sometimes death). I've lived here at Lakeside for over 20 years. Both my husband (now deceased) and I were/are fortunate to have Dr. Hector Briseno as our cardiologist. But we both encountered some godawful physicians here as well as good ones. Sometimes, I've found, trying to warn someone that they are going to a bad doctor is a waste of breath. Lexy
