  1. thanks, all. ...I'm having computer problems.... This person is getting what is due her--already in her account--minus what rent credit is due us. Gotta go before this message is wiped out by my new bug. Lexy
  2. Thanks. I'm hearing about 1500 p a month, too, which would be 150 pesos a day. Our credit due on prepaid rent is 2400 or 3600 pesos (1200 pesos a day). No wonder she wouldn't admit what the oxygen concentrator cost. I understand what she's doing but can't air the details on this forum, of course. Wouldn't want to waste the time anyway. Looks like I have a bit of a hassle--or can avoid a hassle and simply subtract my credit due from what she says my final meds bill is, deposit the payment into her Actinver account, and be rid of her. I'm prepared to pay the actual cost of the oxygen thing if she sends a bill....Honest me. Lexy
  3. Sandrita was asking about the place opposite QC on Interlago Plaza. Gringal, you mentioned the place you went to is on Laguna Plaza? Lexy
  4. Does anyone know about how much a nursing home charges a resident patient for use of an oxygen concentrator? I'm about to settle a final meds bill having moved my husband to a better place. A credit is due on his monthly prepaid rent for three days. But the director says what he's owed in credit is about what it cost for the use of the ogygen concentrator, so it's a wash, she says, but won't tell me what the cost was for oxygen concentrator. At most, he used the machine two, three days. The director of our new place is away today and I'm anxious to know now. I've checked on line for general info and rental costs are not anywhere near the credit we're due. Lexy
  5. My husband and I have had a joint account at Actinver in Ajijic for years. Recently we added a niece living in the States to the joint account with no problems. This is better than making her a beneficiary, as she has immediate access to the funds if need be and avoids the complications of an inheritance. My husband and I have another joint account in USAA bank in the US to receive our SS checks. All this works exactly as we want it to. Lexy
  6. My husband is gravely ill. He is in a place now I would like to get him out of. I fear for his welfare. I do not want to post here where he is. So PM me with a response, if you have one, from your personal experience, please. Has anyone had a good experience with Nursing Home Lake Chapala in Riberas? I will appreciate any useful information you can offer. Lexy
  7. Dra. Paulina is a psychiatrist. Her full name is Ana Paulina Hernandez Sanchez. It's my habit to Google a recommended doctor's background, but I'm not getting any info. I would welcome your comments, personal experiences if you have met with this doctor. Lexy
  8. Laura Choza is her mother. I too had surgery some years ago by Dra. Choza, who had a well-known clinic in Gdl. I wonder if she still does. More recently I went to see Dra. Camacho for simply an eye exam and liked her. It was interesting to see such a difference in their personalities. Dra. Choza was almost glamorous, one day wearing pants that tied at the ankles with bows and very high heels. The daughter is more sedate but personable and pleasant. I'm so pleased to read about Tingting's incredible experience. It's no wonder she can't stop being thrilled about the results of her surgery. Lexy
  9. How awful for the people who thought they had a retirement place for their final years to be given a surprise notice to move out and find another place to live within a few months. Tragic. Lexy
  10. I've got some nice stuff I'd like to part with. Do you have a favorite consignment shop? Do some shops specialize in certain things? I've always liked Barbara's Bazaar for buying. It used to be my Bloomingdale's South when I first came here. But now I want to sell, not buy. Thanks for any guidance. Lexy
  11. Why can't Dr Santiago weigh in with a professional opinion, facts on the topic being discussed, just as everybody else is giving opinions, experiences, advice, etc. An MD giving pertinent info--like what his practice has to offer--seems to me legit.Take it or leave it. It isn't advertising. Advertising is a paid-for ad. Consider how often Attorney Spencer posts opinions and services and what his staff does and everybody thanks him no end. I've never met Santiago. I have no personal experience with him. But it seems to me he has a right to express a reaction here to any topic, no? Lexy a
  12. The QC internist I recommended is Dra Ana Gabriela Flores. She comes in from Guad on a regular schedule. Dra Carla Flores is a QC medicina interna and she makes house calls. She was sent to our house once when we had n emergency. I din't know if she has office appointments, but maybe. lexy
  13. Al--I know from experience and agree with you that the clinics you mention have specialists who come in from guad, usually on a scheduled day of the week. But at Dr. Leon's office I don't believe that's so, unless that's changed. Rather, I've known Leon to refer a patient to a specialist in Guad. Lexy
  14. There is an excellent internist-- medicina interna--Dra. Ana Gabriela Flores. Knowledgeable, perfect English. Lexy
  15. Hi--She still has time open. She will be here at my house   tomorrow. Do   you  speak any Spanish. It's helpful but   not necessary. Contact me at Thetis01@gmail.com and I'll answer questions, etc. She can get to Upper La Floresta.

  16. I agree with El Saltos on this issue. Without good diagnostics even the best chiro can be not just "fiddling in the dark," but inadvertently making matters worse. Lexy
  17. Kim--I sent you an answer to your pm to me. I also highly recommend Oscar. I found it very worthwhile to reupholster my two arm chairs, as nothing I saw or sat on in the furniture stores appealed to me. Lexy
  18. "A class of nurses has recently graduated." Harry, from where, what school? This is kind of a vague notice. You do know more, for starters? Are they all looking to go into private care? Lexy
  19. Kosika--I understand as a newbie you'd want some guidance on what to pay a gardener or a maid. But after you've heard a range of opinions, be guided by your own common sense, now that you're living here, and pay what you think is fair and also agreeable to the person working for you. The exchange rate these days is a big topic of conversation now because it's so incredibly in favor of people whose income is in dollars. But in my 20 years of living here, the exchange rate didn't determine what you paid an employee. Pay what you think is proper for you. There are people who pay maids as little as they can get away with. Others, pay more fairly, starting at 40 p an hour. True, Mexicans don't usually use the hourly-rate system, but instead pay by the day or half-day for a certain amount of work to be done. It pretty much comes down to the same thing. It's kind of you to worry about paying a proper amount. You decide, but don't be parsimonious about it. People who say you'll ruin the economy mean, pay as little as possible. It's a code phrase in my opinion for justifying a meager wage. Although I'll admit we gringos generally do tend to pay more than Mexicans. But not always. Ask some Mexicans with household help when you get to know them better. Lexy
  20. I did take the beneficiary route. Makes total sense. Lexy
  21. Spencer: A suggested comment: If you put a friend or family member on your checking or savings account as a beneficiary doesn't that tangle them up as heirs, maybe inheritance tax, and such? I was wondering about adding a family member to your account itself as an owner. Then if one dies the family member (or friend) has legitimate immediate access to the account and can dispense the funds as per the will. Is this a good option? Lexy
  22. Please note that Moderator #2 locked my post on Ajijic/Chapala/Guadalajara at my request. (Thank you, Mod 2). I'm assuming that Spencer's post here was created by him, as he asked for comments, etc. and did not respond to my question re. source of it. Lexy
  23. This is very interesting information, Spencer. Could you cite the source, please? Lexy

Sounds as though Lexy is threatening that any thread reviewing this restaurant will be turned into a doggy rant. I hope I misread what she said. If she did mean that I hope moderators will not allow this highjacking to continue. It is getting tiresome.

Xena--You did indeed misread me. I made no threat, nor did I even mean to imply one. I regret that you thought based on my post the thread should be shut down. Actually is was getting tedious, but I didn't make it so.

  25. BTW, just to say: 225 p in USD with current exchange rate is more like $12, not $6.
