There are three active cases in a population of 50,000.  If your level of fear causes you not to travel even though vaccinated because of this, best to stay home.  Be prepared for a long wait as covid is behaving like any other cold/flu type virus and constantly evolving.

The largely outdoor low density life style here seems to support a very low incidence of covid.  IMO this is an advantage.

Your greatest risk is probably getting on an airplane with 150 or so other sardines.

That figure sounds wildly optimistic,  based on anecdotal information from Mexican friends.  Covid is spreading rapidly at the moment.

  2. We were there this week for the second Pfizer shot.  All the folks waiting at the CVS pharmacy we used, were from Mexico.  Yes, I'd want an appointment.  The pharmacist told  us  he was limited to 25 vaccinations a day.  However, getting one should not be a problem.  Just Google for info on sites setting  up appointments.

They say alcohol lowers the efficacy of the vaccine.. Mexican doctors are very much against alcohol and French doctors are not , they actually serve a small bottle of red wine with dinner in the hospitals, they say it relaxes people.. Every culture has their does and dont  and do not be surprise if they contradict each other.

We were told in Chapala today to not drink today only and not take aspirin today only.

  4. A friend and I had the same experience.  We were in and out in just over three hours total.  It's important to keep a tight hold on the comprobante document that was given to everyone.   It contains all the information on the shot given and is necessary for the second shot.  This paper will be your evidence of  having  been vaccinated for travel and other purposes.

Chapala did a great job today.  They will be vaccinating in Ajijic on Monday we were told.

At the risk of getting slammed, I would like to suggest it would be better for the expat community, which has proven quite effective in protecting themselves from covid, to let the Mexican community who have to be out there working or are living in larger family groups, to get the first few rounds of vaccinations.  Personally speaking I'd also be leery of getting around those large crowds of vaccination seekers.

For once, I completely agree with  you.

Try using other speed test sites like fast.com and nperf.com. I just did one and nperf was all over the place while fast.com and speedtest.net were close to each other.

The real measure of speed is when you need to download, upload or stream. Those are real world tests. I don't stream much but I did watch the Super Bowl on a Denver stream which never buffered. I have seen torrent download speeds approaching 35mb/second and over 4mb/second upload with ILOX. With that one can download an HD TV show in under a minute.

I have the ILOX 300mb package and can concur it is now faster and more stable. I did give up the ILOX phone months ago for all the reasons that have been posted, even though ILOX said everything looks fine when all my calls were cut off.

Embrace the good and work around the bad.

I tested with three different sites and the results were the same for all.    I have retested since my original post and nothing changes.

http://www.ilox.mx/?lang=en    Site will be in english.  Look to contact and fill out form.   Always works for me.  Be nice as they cancel your service if you are mean and no I am not kidding.  Don't bother to go to office as they are hopeless.

I wrote to them, nicely, and was told in their reply that my service is functioning perfectly.  Not the first time I have received such a reply!
