  1. Telcel call reception has been an ongoing problem for 3+ days. I see zero bars as I write this. I have spoken to many and it is the same. Receive notice of missed calls when my phone was on and never rang. All areas lakeside plus some other areas as well. Those with Telcel wireless internet box are experiencing the same problems because the same cellular network services them.
  2. The legally correct method is to have the form stamped at the point of exit from Mexico. The airline in Mexico City is responsible to turn in the document. If it is stamped in GDL for a national flight the agent is in error. There are 2 or 3 places in the Mexico City airport to have the document stamped. I always have to pass at least one while changing planes.
  3. The Preferred Customer service in Mexico City answers in English, and will help you in every way possible with your account. The number is 01-800-228-2728
  4. Uber takes 25% of the fare. They get the customer, verify the vehicle meets stamdards, vehicle is insured, and driver is legal and set the cost of the trip before you request the trip + cash is not necessary. Taxis pay for permit and union dues. The majority of Uber and taxi drivers in this area are working for commission and do not own the vehicle they are driving. So someone who doesn't pay those costs has some advantage. The consumer has zero protection.
  5. Been driving in Mexico since 1967. Stopped many times. Sometimes guilty sometimes not. Never received a ticket. Never paid a bribe. Smile. Say you are sorry. Ask forgivness. Ask for the ticket. Worst was 130 in the famous SLP trap. We parted friends. No ticket no bribe
  6. Does he have the proper license, insurance, and permit because he is not Uber or taxi.
  7. First you need to understand there is no such thing as a contractor under Mexican law. You really need a licensed architect or engineer to sign the permits.
  8. Doesn't matter about names on the registration Whose name is on the import permit? If it is your wife's name, she is temporal, you as a permanante can drive under current rules. If it is in your name and you are permanente the vehicle is not legal and neither of you can drive it.
  9. Don't know the definition of rogue Uber driver. Either the driver is working on the Uber platform or he isn't an Uber driver. All rides ask the passenger for opinion of driver after the trip. If clients report bad driver, the driver will receive fewer trips from Uber. If an Uber driver asks for more money and you report him he will soon lose his ability to work with Uber.
  10. My most wonderful pet and constant companion is a cow. I love that cow. We have been together for years. She is gentle, well behaved, and doesn't moo in restaurants. Why can't I bring her and yet your dog is ok? Lets all stand up for the right to bring a cow to a restaurant.
  11. Depending on what you want the shop next the Ajijic Post Office can help.
  12. AAA sold you an insurance police on a Mexican plated vehicle? Were you an existing member of AAA Texas?
  13. You should file a non op certificate as soon as your car is in Mexico. Your annual registration if not paid will acrue penalties. If the car ever returns all past due fees plus huge penalties will need to be paid. I have seen cars with thousands of dollars due. Non op permit avoids the problem. For those not aware in Calif there is a required smog check for renewal of registration. The check is performed with a machine on line and the certificate is electronically sent to California Air Resources Board and is on file when DMV receives the renewal application.

  16. Matehuala is not on the highway from Nogales.
  17. No issues right now with Chrome or IE Explorer
  18. How does a person "call" Uber? My app shows no phone number.
  19. As a Mercadolibre seller for over 9 years I work hard to make sure my buyers are satisfied. I would say 99% of the sellers are like me. You can see their ratings and if their buyers report problems. Just like Ebay or Amazon you have buyer protection directly from Mercadolibre regardless of the seller. . The seller does not receive payment until 3 working days after product is delivered or the buyer rates the purchase, whichever comes first. If a buyer files a complaint Mercadolibre holds everything until the problem is worked out. If it needs to be returned Mercadoenvios will send a pre-paid label for FedEx or DHL
  20. I have been told that currently there is an "attitude" problem in GDL. Because you need a police report from Mexico DF, it is best to get it done there all in the same day.
  21. This happens every 2 or 3 years. In July the mountain will be green as ever.
