  1. Posting for a Canadian friend. You can PM me and I will forward your information.
    Thank you
    Unable to attach photo.

I would like to find something in walking distance to the Plaza in Ajijic, 1 bedroom, and I hope to stay from November to the end of February.
I have a small, very well trained dog.

  2. I have read the posts and have tried the *2222 number and the 33 520 9621 number and I am getting no response from either. I am moving today and need to have my service shut off. First message sent Sept. 22nd
Does anyone know if I just unhook my router and take it to the Ajijic office will there be anyone there?

    Thanks

  3. I have chosen Sol Y Luna because of the closeness to my house and because of the price.
This is the info I was given today, Aug 8th, 2020, when I registered for a box.
    Prices:
    1 year $190 US
    6 mo   $ 140 US
    1 mo   $   30 US
Their new hours during Covid are M-F 10-4 and Sat 10-2
You can have packages sent as well as regular mail.
Due to the border being closed, their mail can only be sent out once a week and bigger boxes will take longer.
Anything you might need immediately (lost/stolen credit card etc) you should have sent FedEx or UPS.
Hope this helps and thanks to everyone for your comments!

  4. I am no longer able to rely on others to ship any important mail from the US.
I have heard about Ishop and Handy Mail but know nothing about them and would appreciate any info you could give me as to how this works.
I would have only occasional mail and no packages.

    Thank you in advance

  5. You have the right to eat or not eat at any establishment you want. If they don't allow dogs then don't bring yours.

The owners have the right to decide if they want to allow pets or not.

Mexican law seems to be interpreted by each establishment as they see fit.

The dogs are innocent in this conversation.

My question would be are you really that dependent on your dog that you have to drag it everywhere you go?  If it is a service dog that is another matter, but most of these dogs are just pampered pouches. Some bark at the other dogs and some bark at customers and staff. That dog should be left at home. Other people do not necessarily think that your pup is the cutest thing they have ever seen. They don't want your pup under their chair while they eat and they don't want to have to be careful not to trip over your leash when coming or going.

If your dog can sit quietly and is well behaved, has been in the house all day by itself, and is allowed to go where you are eating, then take it. If you have been dragging it around town all day, take it home and let it rest.

I choose to eat anywhere I want even if there are dogs there. I don't care for it if a pet is misbehaving, as it makes dining a less enjoyable experience, but I will not boycott the restaurant just because the owner made a choice I did not agree with.

If you don't want to eat there then don't, but don't go on the web board and bash a poor little mom and pop restaurant that could easily lose business because you disagree with or maybe misunderstood  their policy. These people work hard for us, their customers, and bashing them here is not something we should do over a dog policy.

And yes I have 2 dogs and no I do not take them with me. Ever. My choice.

  6. Help. I need to call about my pension and apparently there is a new toll free prefix in the US and it is 844.

Has anyone ever had to dial this number? I have looked at all the sites for dialing toll free to the States from Mexico, but I can not find how to change from the 844 to a number that will go through.

All the info says...  Dial 001, which is the international dial code to call the United States, when you have a dial tone. Dial 880 if your toll-free number begins with 800. Dial 881 for an 888 number. Dial 882 for an 877 number and dial 883 for all 866numbers.

    Thank you!!

  7. Your thoughts were eye opening on several levels. I had not considered what would happen if the US dollar went back down. I would certainly feel terrible if I had to decrease her wages. I have decided that I am giving her a fair wage and I will leave it the way it is. For now I too am living on pesos not US dollars so this has helped me to better understand how others think and feel.

This is a great board for information. Thank you everyone!

  8. I have been in Ajijic for 9 months now and have hired a cleaning lady who works only 2 - 3 hours a week. At first I was told to pay her 50 pesos an hour. Then when the pesos fell so low I was told to up it to 60 and yesterday a cab driver told my neighbor it is 70 pesos per hour. I did search on this site but nothing that I found was current. I don't want to cheat her out of any pay if I owe it to her. What is a fair price to pay per hour?
