  1. I like the place next to Tio Sam as well.
  2. I am looking for some props for a Bravo play. We would just need them on loan. If anyone has old US phone books, old pill containers ( US, like we used to get. Plastic containers with labels) Saltine boxes ( empty) If someone knows where we can get plastic wrap spoons. knives and forks, paper bags ( not plastic) We would really appreciate it!! Someone inadvertently threw out all the props.
  3. I know this is late but I have a 4-inch cordless chainsaw you could borrow.
  4. Does anyone have an old metal tea kettle ( not pot)? If you do could Bravo Theater borrow it for a month? We would be very grateful. We also need worn out looking cooking pots. Again just to borrow. Thanks
  5. Had inflamed left biceps. Ordered PT, worked.
  6. La Pueblita was advertised, as I remember , as an aging in place development. It doesn't seem like this is what it is going to be. There are so many planned apartment buildings and new developments selling lots. If they sell, even to snowbirds, it is going to be extremely congested here. I won't even mention the effect on the infrastructure.
  7. I have sold quite a few items at Mia's but everything I bring to her is clean, no stains, marks or tears. I also only bring things that are seasonal. So I was disappointed this week when I went there looking for something. Maybe because I do not usually buy things that I didn't notice but I was looking specifically for a white item. I was really surprised and dismayed at the stains and dirt, some of it was really disgusting, on clothes. I can only guess what the colored items really looked like. Like the above poster, I wondered why there wasn't some sorting and why so many bags. I miss Terry's Tiangus (sp).
  8. Your story is frightening. Everyone speaks highly of Dr. R @ Ajijic hospital. Just curious, was your doctor a SA doctor or Quality Care? So far I have never had any trouble contacting QC doctors. Not saying there aren't one or two I wouldn't recommend.
  9. If people made them aware, they might....maybe
  10. That sounds like a terrible experience. Where you able to report this ? They use to have a person that dealt with care issues. Unfortunately, the powers that be, at SA, do not read this web site. Maybe a compilation of all the complaints submitted to them, hopefully might help.
  11. I really do not know, not having anything to compare. My neighbor had blood labs, EKG, IV and doctor contact with his own heart doctor. . I think the bill was 3,500p.
  12. Awhile ago there were postings criticizing hospitals in this area. A lot of negative comments about San Antonio and Riberas Hospitals. I want to post my recent experience at San Antonio. Yesterday my husband fell and could not walk. I took him to San Antonio ER. Today I took my neighbor who was complaining of severe chest pain. On both occasions the ER care was very good and appropriate. Doctor Maria was very attentive and explained everything that was being done and why. A staff member was always available if needed. Previously, I had one incidence with a " doctor" that caused me concern at SA The bottom line here is that one experience or reading this board and adopting the negative attitude of some posters leads to misinformation and anxiety. It would be nice to see more positive postings so that is why I am posting this. BTW I have had 2 major surgeries at SA which were successful.
  13. Thanks for posting. We smelled smoke here in Chula Vista Norte but couldn't identify it.
  14. Oh come on. Of course, if it were there, it would be closed on Sunday.
  15. I believe there was some discussion about iron works awhile back. I was about to go to the one by Ishop , but it was closed. Does anyone know if they went completely out of business or moved,. ?
  16. Have a better one. Line not moving. Person checking out just standing there. Cashier notifies someone. We still wait. Finally person runs up and handles the young man ONE peso. I swear this is true
  17. I found your remark about good quality clothes on spot. Mexicans have told me that expats believe Mexicans will buy anything. Why, I was asked," do people think we Mexicans want damaged clothes?" holes, dirt, paint etc. Any old castoff.
  18. I use to always go to CHPO because they seemed professional and always wore gloves with blood draws. I didn't realize they were expensive because I did not have experience with other labs. They people who are there now do not wear gloves. A doctor ( with no financial ties) recommended BEST labs. That is when I saw the price difference and they wear gloves. Why is this important? I don't know where , who or how these technicians are taught but to me it is a sign of medical competence to wear gloves. I am not afraid of what I might contract but they should be afraid of what they might .. I could have aids, hepatitis etc. Sometimes inserting a needle into the vein, withdrawing it or applying a Band-Aid , bare hands will come in contact with blood.
  19. I have had very good experience with Upscale Resale.
  20. Having Quality Care, San Antonio Hospital, Riberas and several primary care physicians, I think getting second or third opinions would be helpful. Maybe a little pricey but often worthwhile. Also helpful to do some research ( although that doesn't guarantee competency) I have been here quite awhile and use to take Blood Pressures at LCS. I heard all kinds of stories. I love Dr. L, I hate Dr.L....I love Dr G., wouldn't send my dog there to Dr G. and the beat goes on. Sometimes the issues are serious, others are just unhappy because the doctor doesn't smile. So it isn't always easy here.
  21. I think that if the pay is good, it would attract different people who would not want to lose the job
  22. I am sure there have been discussions about Walmart but I wanted to share my impression. I have gone to Walmart on and off since it opened. Usually for things that I need right away and I live close by, . Over the last couple of months, I feel it has really gone down hill. Baskets full of things people put in wrong places. They just sit there, looking terrible and sometimes blocking the aisle. I could see after the holiday but it is common now. I cannot believe that the new self checkout isn't leading to theft. All you have to do is walk out, no one is watching. I imagine that I could fill my bags and walk out. I won't go into the lines 30 people deep. Why...only 1 or 2 registers open. The place is dirty as well. The last time I was there, a employee almost ran me over with a large container of items. A good employee would have let the customer pass. The packer filled up one of my bags, it wasn't just heavy, I could not lift it at all. In my other bag she placed one item, I always tell packers not too heavy, I had to rearrange everything, This is the first time I did not tip, She looked like she could care less that I had to do that. Twice I picked up an item that didn't have a price tag, The cashier just tossed it and never tried to get a price. I know Walmart isn't known for even decent wages, but this seems to be really deteriorating.
  23. Can any one recommend a good and reasonable mattress store. I know there is one in Ajijic in that newish mall. One off Libramiento by Black Coffey and one I believe is in San Antonio/Riberas. If someone has used one of these places, do they remove old one? thanx
