  1. Gives true meaning to "The lights are on but nobody's home".
  2. Back up in lower Riberas but my speed sucks again.
  3. If I haven't told you lately Spencer, I think you are a wonderful and compassionate man. Please, if there is any information about Euthanasia that could be included, it would be a Godsend. Why? Because is not always possible. Absolutely NO pain killers in ANY quantity gave my hubby relief from the pain. I would hope that no one should ever have to endure what he did.
  4. Nothing is free in Mexico and pricing does not follow what the shaw website dictates. I have brought down many "boxes" in the past because there is a difference in price in Canada... and even the larger elliptical dish packed in towels in a suitcase. Always, always ask the price in advance and in writing.
  5. Just a thought... if you do decide to go with an a/c minisplit, be aware that there are units that will also heat in the cooler weather (just in case you need it).
  6. I would phone him and ask if he can do what you want. Depending on the age of the home, the pipes may be in galvanized steel or copper or pvc. If the first two, it is possible to use a metal detector to perhaps find them. Sure beats the hell out of digging through walls or floors on a wild goose chase. My house is twenty years old and has the same problem with the logic of the piping (and electrical). Whatever you decide, I hope that you will post your results since others can benefit from your experience.
  7. Well stated Zeb. We are not all the same and do not metabolize pain meds in the same way. I have now witnessed the deaths of two people that I love who were in excruciating pain for the last weeks/months of their lives... and it didn't matter what was prescribed... it wasn't enough. Godammit... we treat our pets with more empathy and do not let them suffer needlessly.
  8. Yes, the Lancet is a more than suitable source. However, sometimes conventional medicine doesn't work and people look for alternatives. Until you are one of those people, you won't ever get it. I remember when Chiropracters were also considered quacks. An interesting read... http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1847554/ I suppose you're in the group that doesn't believe in the benefits of medical marijuana either? Sometimes it just takes time for the "proof" to catch up with all the anecdotal evidence.
  9. Likewise...If you can prove that it IS a fraud, please do so. I have benefited from homeopathy twice...my dog who was very afraid of thunder and fireworks always calmed right down with Rescue Remedy. I recently benefited by taking Ignatia for grief. Each to his/her own.
  10. That's more than a side note...that's a factual piece of information that is very important for people to know...just in case. And also up front information that people should ask of their insurers. The good news is that the paperwork provided by most hospitals is VERY detailed...I mean every single thing is listed as an expense that you pay for. I swear they count the number of sheets of toilet paper used.

  12. I did search for you but didn't find much in Mexico. This website may be able to help since they are a source in the U.S. and may be able to put you in contact with someone in Mexico who has bought from them or, perhaps, breeds them...just a thought. https://www.mcmurrayhatchery.com/black_australorps.html
  13. Chopo is the very large Guadalajara Lab that Isi (next to Dermika) sends their samples. It is the only lab that we will use.
  14. Riding the bus is a delightful idea if you're not handicapped. My hubby couldn't even stand and wait for the bus, never mind get on one. This is definitely a country for driving defensively. But I've seen infractions by both gringos and Mexicans alike so I'm not pointing fingers at anyone...but I gotta tell ya that my eyebrows hit my hairline on a daily basis. OMG!
  15. Interesting. I have lived in Mexico for nineteen years. We have had a Mexican plated car for eighteen of those years. Yes, we have been stopped for traffic violations (deserved)and no I don't pay mordida. The first year we were here, we were driving a Canadian plated van and never got stopped...not once.
  16. It doesn't matter what kind of a car you own... So, did you do something wrong to warrant getting pulled over? If so, why didn't you just ask for the ticket and go and pay it? It probably would have cost less than what you paid. Never pay a mordida...NEVER.
  17. Nuthin' like a great haircut to put the bounce back in your step. Thanks for sharing and have a great holiday!
