  1. LOL. Yeah, there's only so much you can take off.
  2. Can't help you with a source Gringal but I hope you consider getting a unit that both cools and heats. I remember your comment about your work room being too cold in the winter as well but that a propane heater wasn't helping your lungs. Two birds, one stone.
  3. We bought and installed a Shaw System from Ajijic Electronics in 2012. In 2015, they bought the system back from me. Mike Merryman is a good guy with whom to do business. My point being that they also probably have used systems to purchase as well. Originally, I brought down a Shaw System from Canada for our house in San Pancho. Yes, even the elliptical dish fit in a large suitcase... well padded with towels. So it is possible. Do the local thing. When your dish gets blown out of alignment or something else, they are an easy phone call away and a short trip for service.
  4. LOL. My housekeeper doesn't say a thing about my one bedroom/one bathroom little house in Riberas. Hers is three bedroom/two bathroom in the center of Ajijic. She has initiative, arrives on time once a week, calls if something happened and she can't come, does a great job, and is good with my two dogs. She's happy and I'm happy. End story.
  5. Tiny, I agree with your last post. But, if it happens really frequently then I start to wonder. I've (we) have some wonderful employees over the last 22 years here and I value them. In San Miguel, we had the same housekeeper for the full nine years and she did not want to accept her finiquito and said it wasn't necessary because of other things that we had done for her and her family over the years. We insisted and helped her to set up a bank account too. In San Pancho, our housekeeper informed us that she was pregnant and would be leaving. I asked if she could talk it over with her husband because we had already sold the house and if she could stay, she would receive her finiquito in five weeks and that would be good for both herself and the baby. So, yeah, I value good employees. There are duds here and NOB.
  6. I think you missed the point of my post entirely.
  7. It's not about being cheap. It's about boundaries and respect. And respect is a two way street. Gimme, gimme, never gets. I am all about generosity but I will not be taken advantage of.
  8. Everybody's different Pete. Slow and steady wins the race. This link is worth reading. https://www.peoplespharmacy.com/2017/06/08/how-to-stop-tramadol-without-withdrawal-symptoms
/ It's not just the pain relief. Tramadol affects neurotransmitters in your brain, including serotonin which is the "feel good" neurotransmitter.
  9. The ability to tolerate pain and the ability of pain meds to ease your pain are written in our personal genetic code. https://www.painmedicinenews.com/download/GeneticTesting_PMN0413_WM.pdf
  10. Try and cut back more slowly Pete than jumping down a full 50% at once. And run that by your Doctor friend. When your body gets used to something, it rebels unless you trick it. Baby steps. Best of luck!
  11. Yes, the logic is impeccable. My hubby's pain specialist in Guadalajara also stated that Mexicans are much more pain tolerant than other nationalities. Capsaicin?
  12. Lidia's store is Lake Med Centre... the store number is 376-766-2088 Her cell phone number is 333-156-9080 and that is the best way to get hold of her. She will either get you what you need or will know where to get it. She's knowledgeable and very caring. Best of luck!
  13. Thanks Sonia! You answered a lot of my questions.
  14. I'm sorry, I don't know. As a matter of fact, I had never heard of Rolfing before and had to look it up. Thought others might be interested to know too... https://www.drweil.com/health-wellness/balanced-living/wellness-therapies/rolfing/
  15. ROTFLMAO! Certainly was a good one. Too bad I could only like it once. I just think I may be getting some business cards made up. Thanks Mudgirl!
  16. Diane Pearl usually gets some red ones in for the holiday season. Ask... just in case they haven't been put out yet. Get the beeswax ones or you'll have a big mess on your hands with most of the others. Then you'll be posting about how to get the wax off your table. So... I have had great success with the little square plastic tabs from some breads and buns. Wait 'til the wax hardens then it just peels right off using the little plastic square.
  17. 'Tis true mudgirl. They sting... with their tails. But, until I saw that it was a scorpion, it just felt like something bit my butt... twice. I was not a happy camper and took it out on the scorpion who was only as upset and scared as I was.
  18. I got up one morning and put on my clothes and went to the dining room for coffee. Just as I was sitting down something bit me... I jumped up and was bitten again. I dropped my drawers and out fell a small scorpion with minutes to live. Took two Chloro Trimeton and slept for 12 hours. When I woke up the pain was gone and the swelling was minimal. Always a good idea to have some kind of anti-histamine on hand.
  19. Gives true meaning to "The lights are on but nobody's home".
  20. Back up in lower Riberas but my speed sucks again.
  21. If I haven't told you lately Spencer, I think you are a wonderful and compassionate man. Please, if there is any information about Euthanasia that could be included, it would be a Godsend. Why? Because is not always possible. Absolutely NO pain killers in ANY quantity gave my hubby relief from the pain. I would hope that no one should ever have to endure what he did.
  22. Yes, the Lancet is a more than suitable source. However, sometimes conventional medicine doesn't work and people look for alternatives. Until you are one of those people, you won't ever get it. I remember when Chiropracters were also considered quacks. An interesting read... http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1847554/ I suppose you're in the group that doesn't believe in the benefits of medical marijuana either? Sometimes it just takes time for the "proof" to catch up with all the anecdotal evidence.
  23. Likewise...If you can prove that it IS a fraud, please do so. I have benefited from homeopathy twice...my dog who was very afraid of thunder and fireworks always calmed right down with Rescue Remedy. I recently benefited by taking Ignatia for grief. Each to his/her own.
