  1. Good, people are enjying specific places which leaves the rest of the country quieter.. I stick at home for Easter and I am fine with it.

  2. Many on this site have lived in Mexico for over twenty years. Many on this site have Nationalized. Many are permanente. Many will be Nationalized. Many will become permanente when appropriate. IMHO we are here legally and therefore are not "invader's".

  3. I agree with what you have done. I also did it and was questioned once and started to count my items out loud to the employee and asked it multiples of one item counted as one or individual. She walked away. I now do not go. I joined walmart pass for about 500 pesos a year. I have also received a coupon every month so far for 200 pesos so i have recovered the initial annual cost. Walmart pass you order online and they deliver. The first few orders were a little difficult but you can use the app to scan the barcode of your items or search. Once you start ordering it has your normal ordered items and you can also mark favorites. Now i simply select how many and place the order and select delivery time. Not even stepping inside the store anymore. Self checkout from the couch. I assume I will have to eventually at some point go inside for a coffee machine or something.

  6. Unfortunately, I found that not to be true. I've gone to Mexico City twice for Semana Santa in the past few years and the residents who had departed for elsewhere were more than made up for by tourists - many from Central and South America, but also many non-Chilangos who thought it would be nearly deserted.

  7. I started using the self checkout option about 10 days ago. I got tired of a person putting items in my cart for me or in my bags and putting papaya on top of bread. I got tired of waiting in line for a cashier who invariably will not have any change. No matter how many items I have in my cart I go to self checkout. Saves an incredible amount of stress for me at least. FYI - I am always there before 9 in the morning and still there is usually only one check out lane open with many in line. Nope, not anymore!

  8. I usually go to Walmart about at either 8AM or 7PM most days there is no line for a cashier. (I hate self checkouts they are job stealing machines and I don't get paid to do the work)

  9. Camping along the lake shore is a long held Easter tradition. I have seen temporary bars and food stalls erected in years past. Some stay for the week following Easter Sunday. It will all be gone soon. Alan

  11. This would be no surprise to municipal administration Kalik. People have been setting up tents there for ages (I think CoV restrictions aside) ......... 24 years we know of and pretty sure that was not a first. Not everyone can afford to go to the coast, or stay in a hotel or some nature of lodging. My husband waited behind a Chapala line bus one full light at Colon yesterday and when the bus finally pulled away he saw why. About 35 people, with all the needed gear etc. were preparing to walk down Colon to the beach. Yes, Flora Nice that families can get out of the city inexpensively for a bit on their annual holiday. ENJOY!!!!!

  12. A friend just sent me this via email. 11 AM I’m just back from walking the Malecón. At 8.30 am they’re doing a terrific clean up… garbage trucks, men with garbage bags on the lake front. Quite impressive. Nice that families can get out of the city in expensively for a bit on their annual holiday. It sounds as if this was an organized event. This was the Ajijic malecon

  13. Center of town in Guayabitos last night. Three times as bad is probably an understatement. The beach was full too, not to mention all the coastal roads.

  14. Really, I think many of us were here before the "yuppie" Tapitos and most of us do not leave trash behind, did I say invasion. Maybe you live mean and lean but my family as many other "foreigners". give back mucho in time, talent and dollar. If "they* feel I am a burden just kick me out. This foreigners their country is a lot of BS which you and fellow travelers keep pontificating is weird.
