  1. It is a GENERATOR for a HOUSE, but hey...next time you need a doctor, see your vet. After all, it's just another type of animal.

  2. On the first day, God created the dog and said, "Sit all day by the door of your house and bark at anyone who comes in or walks past. For this, I will give you a life span of twenty years. "The dog said, "That's a long time to be barking. How about only ten years and I'll give you back the other ten?" And God saw it was good. On the second day, God created the monkey and said, "Entertain people, do tricks, and make them laugh. For this, I'll give you a twenty-year life span. "The monkey said, "Monkey tricks for twenty years? That's a pretty long time to perform. How about I give you back ten like the dog did?" And God, again saw it was good. On the third day, God created the cow and said, "You must go into the field with the farmer all day long and suffer under the sun, have calves and give milk to support the farmer's family. For this, I will give you a life span of sixty years." The cow said, "That's kind of a tough life you want me to live for sixty years. How about twenty and I'll give back the other forty?" And God agreed it was good. On the fourth day, God created humans and said, "Eat, sleep, play, marry and enjoy your life. For this, I'll give you twenty years. "But the human said, "Only twenty years? Could you possibly give me my twenty, the forty the cow gave back, the ten the monkey gave back and the ten the dog gave back; That makes eighty, okay?" "Okay," said God, "You asked for it." So that is why for our first twenty years, we eat, sleep, play and enjoy ourselves. For the next forty years, we slave in the sun to support our family. For the next ten years, we do monkey tricks to entertain the grandchildren. And for the last ten years, we sit on the front porch and bark at everyone. Life has now been explained to you. There is no need to thank me for this valuable information

  5. Lakeside7, she did NOT mention that it was a GAS generator. And it happens to be a whole house PROPANE generator. You just put your other foot in your mouth.

  6. The joke in my family is traffic engineers in Mexico don't earn enough to buy a car and don't drive.

  7. At this time your SIM (phone number) is associated with a certain plan. Any deposit you make will be to that plan. You need to visit Telcel in Laguna mall and change the plan associated with your phone number

  8. I have notice in central chapala the new roadwork in just 2 blocks on the semi finish side they have eliminated approx. 6 to 8 parking spaces and at the main intersection they have made so narrow that buses will be lucky to navigate a turn going west, Amazing design just my 2 cents

  12. Snarky... you mean like your "brain surgeon" comment? While your original comment could have some merit, it sounds like the OP is not that interested in pursuing that line of reasoning.

  13. But 15 years ago... 2007... there was not a traffic problem IMO. Didn't get this way until about 4-5 years back. Sending this many cars through on Ocampo would seem to be a nightmare. Not that the current situation is not....

  14. A new chip will mean a new number and might cost more than just a simple visit to Telcel. Any existing credit to the old number would be lost as well.

  15. Richmond Posted December 30, 2021 We have a Briggs & Stratton propane generator, model 310000. This was installed in November 2012 and money well spent. Like a solar system, it has paid for itself over time. When the grid goes down the generator will kick in within a matter of seconds. It provides power to the entire house and shuts down around 30 seconds after power from the grid returns. All electrical appliances such as televisons, freezer, fridge freezer and computers run as normal. The generator is serviced twice a year and we use a qualified Briggs & Stratton mechanic, based in Guadalajara. His name is Daniel Rodante, Cell: 33 1862 3086. He does not speak English but could point you in the right direction. In fact, he is due to service the unit early in January 2022. Good luck. The above from this thread last December...

  17. I just talked to them on the phone. And they are working hard and enjoying life. And not only is Orma across the street from them, but they are also next to Moms Deli which is just East of them on the cross street. And the reason their telephone number has 766 in it and is not 765 which would be normal, at their new location, is because several years ago their office was in/near Ajijic and they took their old number with them when they moved East. I have used them in the past and can highly recommend them.

  18. Perhaps by 2030 someone in the planning department will require that all buildings provide parking for X number of cars based on occupancy... Now for another shot of Tequilla to make that one work...

  19. IMO they are all about the same. I would choose one that is the most convenient for you. However, if I wanted to sell something I would go to It's kinda bazar which is very close to Tepehua consignment shop and Huerto Cafe. 86 Hidalgo, In Riberas on the Carretera. Phone 332 267 3455 or in an emergency, cell 322 429 3762 Open Tuesday to Friday 10-4…

  20. It is BAD. I remember when there were no traffic lights in Ajijic. Yesterday it took me 20 minutes to drive from Ajijic to San Antonio for a 9:30 dental appointment. If I were 60 again and wanted to move to Mexico it would not be to Lakeside

  21. Yes…has gotten continually worse over the years. now exponentially worse as population & building increases beyond realistically infrastructure capacity. If you look at a local map the problem will be clear to you - there’s only 1 through-road.

  22. Ana was very helpful in getting us up and running when we returned to Ajijic... She could use some additional help to handle the large number of customers that treck to her door...If she was doing something wrong there would be less traffic... People vote with their wallet...

  23. Timing is everything... Going from Rancho del Oro to Chapala can take 25 minutes or an hour depending on the time of day... I have found that leaving at 8:25am will get you there in a short time even on market day... Coming back around noon one should pack a lunch...

  24. not bad?? It is so screwed up that this week there is no way to go home without breaking the law.. I have to take a street the wrong way to get home otherwise I cannot get home. I call that really bad..

  25. Lakeside, I was just talking about the limited places I drove which would be from the most westerly light in Ajijic, East toward Chapala and back. You know maybe going to the animal shelter or Walmart or to breakfast in and around Ajijic. So I am sure many of you, lakeside, of course will have different driving experiences than I. I just know, that if I want to get somewhere fast, early morning or early evening is much better than the middle of the day.

  28. Mainecoons, I have had the TelCel Amigo plan for the 11 yrs I have been here, since I use my flip phone very seldom as well. It still is a great rate for 100 p for 60 days. If you don't use all your minutes (don't know how many you get), they keep rolling over and do not expire. I think you get to add three to five phone numbers to add to your plan of your most frequently used phone numbers (like calling your wife). You can talk to these numbers for up to 5 minutes without being charged any minutes agains the plan. I find this the best rate to go. My wife uses the same and she SMS (texts) people all the time at no charge. I just go to Oxxo and top it off with another 100 p every 60 days.

  29. We paid 100 pesos at Telcel in Centro Laguna the first part of November for a phone without wifi. No contract, just bought Minutes. We did this with my husband's phone for 5 years, always bought Minutes at Telcel. We then, end of November, purchased a different phone and bought a monthly plan as we wanted cellular service.

  30. For anyone who has had the pleasure of this young man's work or who would like to contact him.... his cell phone number has changed from 331-439-6488 TO 331-157-7160 Please update the contact info. And, yes, I did phone the number to confirm it.

  31. Telcel offers 3 types of Amigo plans. As Frijoles mentioned, ask for Amigo por Segundo. Ferret and Mostlylost are referring to the Amigo Sin Límite plans. Telcel offer another called Amigo Óptimo Plus Sin Frontera, but unsure how its different.

  33. Not quite sure why you should reply the way you did! You mentioned it was a Gas engine, needing a Standard filter and oil..I see no reason for a brain surgeon, a regular mechanic will do ok

  35. This is an easy fix, but is too logic to be accepted. Make Ocampo one way going East from Rio Bravo, and limited it to cars and local buses, and join the Carretra at La Foresta. Ajijic town needs to provide more payed parking areas

  36. I drive between Ajijic and Chapala. Most often early in the morning there is no problem but by ten or 11AM the roads can get fairly crowded> But its, not the end of the world. The traffic doesn't stop. But on a bad day things might slow down to the 20s or 30s. That is just my experience. I would love to hear what others experience

  37. I have no idea why. What I can say is that it was not very noisy in my neighborhood in upper Ajijic. (I should add that it had been very noisy for at least a week until a couple of days ago. And I be the fireworks will be starting again soon)
