  1. Could it be that another new hospital in the area is trying to malign and disparage the San Antonio Hospital? Because recently tons of new unknown users have been popping up recently talking junk about Hospital San Antonio in several threads.

  2. We should all consider ourselves extremely lucky that we have choices. Two hospitals here and many more in Guadalajara. Same with Doctors. However, I am suspicious of NEW posters who appear only to malign something and then disappear into the woodwork. I will consider the opinions of those who are well known posters on the forums and no others. At least I know that they do not have a hidden agenda.

  4. Lakeside7 you gave me a sad face emoji. If you are truly on this forum daily you would have noticed a pattern by now and the rift between the two fairly new hospitals. One appears to be playing dirty to get the gringo dollar. I am sure most long timers on this forum have noticed this by now.

  5. Yesterday another major accident just south of the Tapatio hotel ( the downhill stretch) heading to Chapala. Double trailer lost brakes. Highway to Chapala, one of the most dangerous in the State The highway to Chapala has been listed as one of the most dangerous in Jalisco in the last year due to the spectacular accidents that have occurred on it. In addition to the mishap that occurred yesterday, just a month ago a crash took the lives of three people; on May 16, a 25-year-old man died after his car was pressed after hitting a personnel transport truck and, just a month earlier, on April 16, a woman died when the truck she was traveling in was embedded in a tree on the side of this road. The mishaps recorded in this five-year period claimed the lives of at least 29 people in the place where the mishap occurred, not knowing how many more could have died in hospitals. In addition to those mentioned, the SCT registered at least 70 injuries that required medical attention. https://www.informador.mx/Carretera-a-Chapala-Trailer-sin-frenos-mata-a-uno-y-lesiona-a-siete-l202207290001.html

  11. My husband and I used the hospital San Antonio several times and we never had a bad experience there. I think the food is lousy and prices high but the attention we received was good as a rule.. Yes bad things can happen but there is something that is a little strange with all the complaints from the newbies.

  12. I truly respect Pete, but this is one time that I disagree. I can accept that he's had good experiences there, but I also know why. I can't be specific about any one doctor - for all of the obvious legal reasons - but I will say that what certain doctors believe you have ($$!!)/or don't have (-$) will make a HUGE difference in how they treat you. Yes, this is true anywhere, but more so here. I don't say this lightly but from direct, personal experiences (Note: plural). And in many cases, "first time" posters aren't, but they choose to use a 2nd name because they get attacked if they don't goose step along with the popular opinion. I've had several folks tell me their own horror stories, but they will never post here for that very reason. Quite frankly, some of the stories are scary as hell. I grew up in a medical family; I understand that not everyone is going to get well or have a perfect ending but there is a huge difference between health care and health scare. While I take some of the "newbie" comments with a large grain of salt, I also believe that sometimes people are so incensed that they come to this forum in frustration to write of their own experiences. And I will take my own experiences, but YMMV.

  14. For my GP, if it is an urgent matter, I call to find out if he is in, and if so, I just go in and wait. Otherwise, I make an appointment within the week. I have never waited longer than that. He has also made evening house calls when my husband could not travel to his office, and it was not "ambulance/ER" worthy. For my orthopedist, if I use the one at the Ajijic Clinic, it's dependent on the day of the week that he is there and his surgery schedule. Usually a week, because he is there 1x a week. For my GDL orthopedist who is either in his office or in surgery, it depends on his schedule. For non emergencies, 1-1.5 weeks, and they will call me if there is an opening earlier. Dentist - We schedule cleanings, etc., in advance, but in an urgent need, she will open up her office immediately. It helps that she lives in the neighborhood behind us, but I have heard the same about most dentists. For routine fillings, crowns, etc., an appointment is usually available within the week. For more complicated work that requires the assistance of an oral surgeon who will come n from GDL, usually a week. My ophthalmologist can usually fit a person in within one week, at most 1-1.5 weeks. He does surgeries and on occasion has emergencies. I had a retinal detachment in progress and he saw me withiin 30 minutes, asking the room full of patients heading to GDL for surgery to please be patient, that he would be about 40 minutes late for all of them, but it might save my eyesight. It did. He saw me on a Friday morning and I was in surgery the next Monday morning. Had I not eaten breakfast, I would have been whisked to the eye center in GDL and operated on ahead of his cataract patients. Hope that helps .

  15. Nope only got ten dollars more on the O.A.S. Perhaps it depends on your age since I'm only 70. Pete... toonie. "Although the $2 coin features a picture of a polar bear, by artist Brent Townsend, Canadians quickly began calling the coin the "toonie," a portmanteau of the words two and loonie. The Royal Canadian Mint also trademarked the term "toonie" in 2006."

  17. Again a first time poster (joined less than an hour before post) re posting a message from 3 other first time posters on a thread about wait times.. PERSONALLY I DO NOT BELIEVE A WORD OF IT It would take a miracle for so many new people to find this board to post this at the same time.

  19. Well, it's safe to say that I've been around quite a while and I've already told the hubster that I would rather potentially risk my health by going ANYWHERE other than SAH than to definitely risk it there. This is based on several experiences, not just one...and had I not ignored their indifference, spouse would be dead. Is that junk enough for you? I also need to add that recently he was hospitalized at RMC for 6 days and the care was outstanding. Yes, we're very lucky to have choices and after trying others, RMC and Hospital Ajijic (love the father, Dr. Rodriguez) are mine.

  20. Yes I do. Look at the thread that was immediately closed that was started this morning. Hospital San Antonio Negative report. Every couple of days a newbie nobody starts a thread maligning Hospital San Antonio. The thread closed today, the 3 people posting were first timers with Spanish user names. Yes I think one newer hospital is playing a dirty war with the other more established and preferred hospital. It is so obvious.

  24. the more you pay and the quicker they get to you.. pretty simple here. You do not want to be on life support, tell them you have no money and off you go.

  25. I think that you are suggesting very plainly that, in order to come out of this kind of a situation anywhere close to being whole, that one must be EXCEEDINGLY WELL CONNECTED. You are suggesting that you are. Good for you. Carry on. But for the rest of us peons and the OP I'm thinking that we had better be leaning a little more towards the side of lawfulness.

  26. I've been using Dr. Carlos Garcia since I came to the lake part time each year in 1997. I believe he is the lead GP at the San Antonio clinic/Hospital. Is he perfect? No, I do not think anyone is. But I would highly recommend him and shall continue to use him during the 9 or so months I am lakeside, each year. So in short, I, as a patient thereof, would HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE SAN ANTONIO CLINIC/HOSPITAL.
