  1. I blocked Crabbypants, so no longer have to read his snide remarks...

  2. Problem now is wind causing waves. March is bad for that. You need about 3 days with no wind for the shoreside silt to settle the bottom.

  3. That is like asking what is the normal size for a gas tank in a car... there are many different sizes depending on the brand of tank. On your tank there should be a label with the size.

  4. I've wondered about this, too. Don't mind Crabbypants, if it isn't in his ballpark, it isn't important.

  5. Yes I was aware there were some regulations, but that was helpful as I was given some information, nothing as through as this though. I was planning on using a local drone operator, but after reading that, I may need to reconsider. As the person I planed on using assured me that he had everything required, but I am starting to wonder. I will defiantly need the drones as they will get the best footage, but drones are not cheap, so I will look into this further. Thanks for the heads up as I think my excitement for the drones and footage got ahead of my thinking. Also yes, I hate to think I am up tight about following rules, but because I am hosting some of the videos on YouTube, I have to be extra careful.

  6. I use the Comex on the east side of Madero with great success including matching. I speak as a professional antique restorer and folk art furniture maker.

  7. That is another solution! I may work out a trade with the OP Mad_Max for a car swap but whatever works the best. I had trouble looking up the value since I'm not sure what the Mexican bluebook equivalent is but we can probably work out a deal. If you are reselling that might make a difference on what you would like to pay but I'm not greedy on money. You could deduct some expenses too since it would save me from making the trip. I actually like driving in Mexico but can't spare the time or money right now. Closing on the New Mexico house is set for May 2. So if nothing goes wrong I can get a new state license and register a replacement car in the state. I will send you an email so we can stay in touch. Either way it looks like she has a ride. I may have met you Amigo Alex when you brought something to Ajijic for a friend of mine.

  9. Don't get political Bobby. I have to say we've been pretty satisfied with the performance of our investments at Actinver. It seems NOB there are few options with decent earnings other than gambling on the stock market these days and we are just a bit too old for that. We make three times on our investments here versus what we make up there. When it comes to fiscal responsibility of governments Mexico doesn't do all that bad particularly when compared to, frankly the U.S. no matter who is in charge. These days we are more concerned about the dollar than the Peso. Fitch had this to say about the 2022 Mexican Government budget: The run up in oil prices has been positive for Mexican finances in the past. As far as Canada goes, for some reason which I don't fully understand it seems the Canadian dollar is consistently undervalued given the stability there. There was a short period of time a few years ago when the two actually hit parity. But it seems to me the Canadian government seems to be less fiscally responsible than it used to be and maybe that is why the exchange rate. It seems to me that U.S. people should be most concerned about moves to replace the dollar as the international reserve currency. What I read is this status is the main thing keeping the value of the buck from cratering in the face of a sea of red ink.

  10. Good luck with that. The water on the north shore usually is pretty turbid. I am told the reason is because it is so shallow and the wave action stirs up the turbidity. As lakes go, IMO it is better admired from a bit of a distance.

  13. Mine says on the tank. Remember, no more than 85% full, so if yours is 300 liters, only put the # of liters to bring the total to 255 ! My gauge is very accurate. Last time I got propane, my gauge read 20%, so 85% - 20% = 65%. So, .65 x 300 = 195. Thus, I told the truck guy to put in 195 liters. He did, and my gauge read 85%. I paid for 195 liters. Since the price of propane was 12.65 at that time, I also could have done 195 x 12.65p = 2466.75pesos and told him to put in 2,467 pesos of propane. Either way, he is not cheating me, as I know exactly what he puts in and what the cost is. Easy, huh?

  18. A possible solution?? We have a Jalisco plated car here in New Mexico that will need to go back. We bought it Lakeside Dec 2019 but have an offer in on a house here. If we close on the house the first week of May then according to New Mexico state law we have 90 days to register the car. We cannot register the car in the USA because it does not meet EPA emissions standards. It is a 2013 Honda CRV 111,000 Kilometers or approximately 66,600 miles. If anyone comments or asks questions about all of the legalities of keeping this car in the USA I simply won't answer. I will be selling it south of the border by the end of July regardless. Very very good car with a surprising amount of cargo room. Uses no oil between changes. We would definitely keep it if we could. If this doesn't work for you, and I don't expect it to, then I will put an ad at some point in the proper thread on this forum. Feel free to PM me but be patient since closing on a house is so time consuming!

  19. Not much you can do about the exchange rate. You could look at your home purchase and profit in a different way. That's 15 years that you didn't pay rent at approximately an average of $1,000 U.S. dollars a month... 15 years x 12 months x $1,000 U.S. is $180,000 U.S. dollars saved (in addition to the $120,000 U.S. gain on the price).

  20. The price of the bolio (bread bun) will be increased to 10 pesos as of this coming Tuesday. In other words it has doubled in price in the space of one year (in my area anyway).

  23. You can google a lot of info. There are several courses that are within an hours drive. A couple just 30 minutes or less depending on where you live. Chula Vista is in San Antonio. it is an executive type short tight track. It's hilly, but generally kept in good condition. Chapala Country Club is about 30 minutes from Ajijic center. It is a nine hole course that has multiple tees to help make it less boring. Not a bad track. greens are very hard. A couple of interesting holes, but nothing special. It has a large membership and quite a few competitions weekly for men and women. Atlas is about a 40 minute drive from Ajijic. It is a very nice course and always kept in top shape. It's a great layout and a beautiful track with huge trees lining both sides of most fairways. It's a true test for golfers of any skill. But, it has tees that compensate for age and high handicappers. Another really nice course is El Cielo. A little over an hour from Ajijic. It is over 7,00 foot elevation and has some spectacular views from several holes. Another true test for golfers of all levels. It is kept in really good condition as well. There are 3-4 other courses in the Guadalajara area that can be played as a non-member. You can find rates and ,membership costs at the websites for each course. It is a great area for golf that is less expensive than the states and our weather is incredible. I play 2-3 times a week and have missed maybe five days due to weather in seven years. If you have specific questions PM me. I am a member at Atlas.

  24. "The Blue House" fromerly run by Dr. Roberto Martinez and his wife Rosario WAS excellent for dementia patients. Sadly it has been gone for a few years due to Dr. R's terrible personal health condition which has rendered him a semi-invalid himself. Two friends who had family there then went to Ohana (San Juan Cosala) where they both felt the care provided there was exemplary. It's my understanding (??) Ohana now has a dementia wing as well as a "more liberty" wing.

  25. I think it worth your time to visit and search all the care facilities yourself, you will get plenty of feed back when you arrive and a personal visit to the homes will give you an idea of the conditions. Good luck always a tough choice

  27. Yes I didn't realize how muddy the water can get. Plus I was also pleasantly surprised by the historic buildings and other points of interest. There is a lot to be explored and I think I may need to cover this across several videos with better drones. As I have two new 4k drones ordered and will be picking up when I return to Canada in a couple of weeks. So I think I will highlight it for now, but get more in-depth later on when I can do the area justice. I am having a hard time finding certain info out as it all so far has been pretty generic. So if any one has so info on the following questions, I would greatly appreciate the info. 1. What is the current population of expats in each of the towns? 2. The church in Chapala seems very old, any idea when it was built? 3. The meaning behind the slogan under the Chapala sign that reads " Es amor, Cultura, Familia, Tradition,..."? 4. Any areas of interest that are must sees?
