  1. Johnson. There has been no long term testing on the US vaccine either. Anyone one who takes it within the first year to two years is being a test case. You have no idea what the long term effects of that vaccine will be. I will wait

  2. That would seem to me to be the first step.. But so many of the expats here won’t do that, they want someone else to do it for them...they like to complain. They buy a property that’s cheap because it’s very close to a commercial area which has had bars and restaurants with music long before they purchased their property and then they want other people to solve their problems for them. A little due diligence would have solved their problem before it even started..

  3. It is amazing how many people say what they “would have done” about things that have never happened to them. In their imaginations they are smarter, more aware, braver than ordinary humans.

  4. The number one exporter of beef to USA is Canada followed by Australia and than Mexico. This year 33 million cattle have been slaughtered in the USA of which 745,000 came from Mexico. Actually Mexico exports more meat to the USA than it does live cattle. Many feedlots have been established along the border and likewise meat processing plants. Each year around 550 million pounds of meat is exported to the USA and the USA exports about the same amount back to Mexico. Some of the better cuts of meat in USA come from Mexican processing plants. If you are talking about a standard tomahawk steak there is going to be little difference from a Mexican one versus a USA one. Now if you talk about an angus one the USA one should be better.

  7. You may not like my advice, so that leaves me no recourse but to suggest that you confront the INM officials with your intent to refuse to abide by the INM rule ....... Please hurry.

  8. In your "home country" as a citizen no but as a "Residente Permanente" yes you need to carry your immigration card at all times to prove your immigration status when asked by officials exactly the same as in Mexico according to the SEGOB INM rules. Not a copy or a notarized copy but the official INM card/document. Break the rules if you want to. Federal Police and INM officials can ask. So can INSABI [using their emergency room etc], state and federal agencies when doing business with them. Probably the National Guard since they are replacing the Federal Police can ask also.

God forbid you're ever faced waith a real dilema such as which utensil to use for soup! I can't believe how some people dig and dig for something to criticize! Buena suerte!

  13. For 50 pesos, a notario will give you a notarized copy with a seal on it. I never carry my original, just the notarized copy. If cashing a check at Intercam, they ask to see it and the notarized copy is fine. If I use my Intercam debit card to pay my TelMex bill (when it was open), they ask to see my permanente i.d. and the notarized copy is always sufficient. The original never leaves my house unless I'm leaving the country and need the original when crossing borders. The local police have nothing to do with INM and have no authority to ask for proof of residence.

  14. So in your home country how do you prove your citizenship or your right to be there if asked by a policeman?? Answer is you don't beause they won't ask or can't ask by law depending on where you are .......so you don't carry proof with you. In 45+ years I don't know of anyone asked to show their visa, resident card, or passport to any policeman inckuding federal police. I would wager that fewer than one in a thousand policemen here have any knowledge of imigration law. We are not in a "let me verify that your papers are in order" police state. Like a debit card....best left at home until you will have an actual need for it.

  15. It is not due to overloaded trucks, it is due to poor engineering and poor construction. That road collapsed and was closed for months within a few weeks of being opened. There have been potholes and large dips in that road since the day it reopened.

  17. After 20 years and working for the last 4 administrations ,two things impress politicians, money and embarrassment. If you want to get their attention you have to use one or both of these. The current administration, increasingly, is ignoring the expat community as it focuses on re election. More expats need citizenship so they can vote. To my knowledge, none of the most vocal commentators on this board and others have citizenship and can vote. If you want to be paid attention to, be able to vote and tell the politicos that you will vote!

  22. I just happened by Purple Garlic Pizza's location in SAT. The gate was open so I stopped and went in. I noticed that their hours start at 1pm but it was 12:45. I asked if it was too early to get a para llavar. He said, "We open at one". I looked at my watch and said, "it's only quarter to 1". He said in rather nasty tone, "You can get your pizza at 1:10." His tone was snotty and then he escorted me out the gate, practically pushing me on to the sidewalk. As I got into my car I said he him, "You have the most expensive pizza around. And your delivery charge is too high". (Delivery is 100 pesos--I was quite surprised my first time) He insinuated that he didn't want my business anyway. Only at the very end did I get snotty with him. He was way too rude and could have handled the situation in a much more professional way. Like,"Thank you for coming be we don't open until one. Would you like to wait or have it delivered?" I have never been treated this way by any business since I've been here and it's been 15 years. No mas para me!!

  23. The Chapala to GDL repavement started failing less than 6 months after the first section was finished. It has hundreds of repairs in less than 2 years. There are areas that have been patched 3 or 4 times. Right now there is a dangerous failure just before the libramiento sur overpass.(3rd resurface in 12 years) Areas of the Ajijic libramiento's last repavement are showing cracks already. You will see baches by October. (The 4th resurface in 10 years) If these were class a contractors ...then how bad is a non class a contractor's work?

  24. I don't trust vaccines. Do some research on vaccines in general before you allow someone to inject you. Also, isn't it interesting that vaccines normally take years, and now all of a sudden, one will be available quickly. I don't get vaccines, flu or otherwise. Don't believe what doctors tell you. They don't know everything. They ar sold just like everyone else. A perfect example. A couple of years ago, I overhead a woman say she trusted her doctor and that he said it didn't matter which flu type you were guarding against, and that the flu vaccine strengthened the immune system. When I looked on the CDC website, it stated that anyone with a compromised immune system should not take the flu vaccine........

  25. I went but they were closed. No 24 hour phone number posted. I also drive faster than 30km on the libramiento. Guess I'm just a scofflaw. But until AMLO has goose stepping officials checking papers in every corner I guess I and thousands of others don't have to worry

  28. "blaming" is saying that the victim was to blame. I didn't say that, but allowing strangers to get that close to you is a little like leaving the keys in your car. You are still a victim when it gets stolen but it would have been prudent to not have allowed the situation to even be possible. If a stranger approaches you and breaks the personal space boundary necessary today, politely back up a little and ask for space or raise you hand in the stop position, just sayin

  30. Line up folks, get the Coronavirus vaccine, it is finally here! But for me, I think I will just wait a year or two. Why does the vaccine suddenly sound scarier than contracting the Coronavirus?
    1 point
  31. My concern would be the safety of the vaccine. From what I have read, Russia has done only very limited studies, no placebos, and not enough data to determine the safety and long term effectiveness of the vaccine. They have failed to release the kinds of data generally shared with other scientists. There are serious concerns. If any vaccine is rushed without the necessary safeguards and proper testing, and it turns out to be less than effective or have serious side effects among certain groups, people will be afraid to get vaccinated at all. The long term results will mean that even to good vaccines won't be given to enough people to provide the desired results.

  33. Ditto on the comments that you need to check with Texas as to what they require. I did something similar and Colorado required a 'clean US title', not one that Mexican authorities had stamped as Nationalized. I was lucky that I was buying from the seller direct who Nationalized it and I was able to get a POA from him, then acquired a duplicate (Nevada) title which I could present to Colorado along with a/some forms from US Customs saying that the car 'still' met all EPA/California/DOT regulations in force the date the car was manufactured. I say 'lucky' but of course I made sure that all of that was doable BEFORE I purchased the truck with Jalisco plates.

  37. All 50 states are required under Federal law to email or fax or download the delivery of ballots to Overseas Voters. But you have to ask (or check a box when registering). All states are required to deliver the ballots by electronic means no later than 45 days before an election. However, the Federal law does not require states to allow ballots to be returned by email or fax; at least 20 states require return by surface mail. CHECK with your LOCAL registrar/official to find out their rules and procedures, and best to do it NOW. At the very least if you are allowed to FAX your completed ballot, you need to confirm their FAX number! Everyone mark your calendar for SEPT. 19th-----if you are an Overseas Voter, your ballot must be sent to you via electronic means (if you so requested) on or before that date.

As well as being somewhat PO'd about it I also laughed my **** off and bought those poor 10 workers cokes who are forced to do the same stupid thing over and over again with no results. It ain't their fault that they are working for pinche incompetent payasos. 40. Why should I Google it? This is a board for local information here. I would think that a review would include detailed information on the location. Why should I go to an international site that is vacuuming up information on anyone going there and reselling it? Plus they will not be giving information on such as "near such in such" or "across from such in such" or "on lakeside or mountainside near such in such". Just my opinion!!!

  42. I believe the actual facts are that it is just the opposite. US beef is still banned in many European countries because of hormone enhancement drugs. Sort of like athletes getting caught for doping. Much of the cattle for the US originates from Mexico. These are calves, mostly bulls, purchased by the US feedlots for fattening. They are in crowded conditions and often need antibiotics and hormones. Does Tony sell dry aged beef? That is what is really popular these days. Haven't tried a dry aged dinosaur rib cut for some time this involves keeping the big to medium bones really meaty, then tying them back with twine on the prime rib roast for aging. The best BBQ is the dinosaur bones. The next part of the roast which makes up the tomohawk part of the prime. The rest has a lot less flavor, even with dry aging. Best to go back to the butcher and get them to cut up the remaining into very thin slices. This is a difficult skill unless you do this all the time. Mexican butchers do have this skill. Use these thin slices in Asian dishes, such as stirfries, and tabletop boiling soups, where the beef is quickly swished around with diners using chopsticks. At the end, dry or fresh noodles added to end the meal. Well, unless there is cheesecake, which always seems to be there, ask my butt! Getting ready ready for tomorrow to slaughter a tofu, for Map Tofu, Anthony Bourdain's favorite dish. Hope mi vecinos won't mind the screaming Tofu😕 edit sorry for the stupid paste, this Silk browser really sucks, the next time I meet Jeff, I will tell him.

  44. My dear Harry I am bruised and bleeding from my encounters with past Chapala administration(s) ..yes they change, BUT things still (appear) to remain the same...different names same old s**t. Most of the time there is already a protocol in place for them and us to follow. Most foreign residents are not citizens and can't vote, so our efforts are just a nuisance. The fact that most of US pay significantly more taxes and on time than the locals seems not to count.... and we are still getting screwed. Where are the morals and ethics of these people they all seem to forget them after they have been elected ..You do not have to be a brain surgeon to see what a mess this decision would cause Like any other "normal/regular" organization the buck stops with the boss.
