  1. Peter I know you're not a mean man but that was a nasty comment when people were only trying to show respect and reflect on what Rolly meant to them. SunFan

  2. Would never give this person a dog. If it is not perfect, (in her eyes), she probably will toss it. Better she buys herself a stuffed dog at the toy store. https://likebuyyy.com/products/rea?fbclid=IwAR0PrCqRYaT-sDRq6MGEtFKNzclrsg87uU1A9WkuAj90KqqiUlK0uakdV4Q

  3. If you call 70 young 🙂 But I am healthy and agile and do go up on ladders. But I was assuming your salitre problem didn't require a ladder. Most of the salitre I see is closer to the bottom of a wall altho I have had some on ceilings if there was moisture coming in from the roof.

  4. Ballots aren't ready until after the primaries and are generally ready in September. You do NOT want them to mail you a ballot. Each state is different. Some states require that you complete a FVAP every year, others do not. Some allow you to vote in all local, state and federal elections, others allow you to vote only in the federal elections. Find out your state requirements. You must use the last address where you were registered to vote. All states allow fax, some email or Internet download for your ballot. If allowed, plan to fax or email your completed ballot back to your county election official. With the current nonsense, avoid the mail. Here are some good resources: Vote from Abroad https://www.votefromabroad.org Overseas Citizen Voter - FVAP https://www.fvap.gov › citizen-voter https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/international-travel/while-abroad/voting.html

  7. Someone on this Board recommended the handy man Marcos, so I hired him to do various tasks. I want to provide my experience with him. He arrived shortly after 9 am. About thirty minutes after his arrival, he said he was going to stop for Breakfast. His first task was to complete an overhang over my front door. The metal frame was in place, however, it needed some finishing, holes patched, metal painted and tiles installed. About two hours later, after he had installed about 30% of the tile, he said the metal frame was too weak for the weight of the tile, so all that time was wasted and he would have to start over once he returned with his welder (on a different day). I have had someone else come and look at it, who said frame is plenty strong, however, tile needed to be sealed before installing and the frame itself is crooked and not flush against the wall, so it all is needs removing and to be redone. He showed me the problems and I could see exactly that he was correct. I asked Marcos to solve a problem with the toilet which had a leak which I thought was from the base of the toilet. He looked it over, pulled out the toilet installed a new seal and cemented all around it. Couple of hours later, he said he was stopping for lunch. After he left I went to use it, didn't flush, so turned on the water, which then splashed everywhere as he had not installed the connection to the toilet and it was an open hole. I installed it myself. Hours later, water all over the floor. Leak not solved and concrete that he used around the seal was crumbling on the floor. Second maintenance man had over today, immediately showed me the source of the leak and incorrect tape was also used around the connection. Simple repair which will be remedied in a few minutes. Marcos, who supposedly was experienced, should have seen what the problem really was and checked that all was functioning before telling me he was done. The seal did not need replacing as it was not leaking from there to begin with. There were numerous other small things I asked him to do, which handled in the same manner. He told me he was done for the day at 4 p.m. I told him we had agreed to a wage for an entire day, and I consider a day's work 8 hours, so he said he would stay one more hour, and after 45 minutes, he said he was leaving. He doesn't check his work to see if problems for which he is hired are actually remedied. I won't have him back.

  8. You can probably find it locally. Look at the generic name and ask your farmacia for it, or to order it for you. There is no way for you, as an idividual, to succeed in getting reliable delivery from outside of Mexico at any reasonable price.

  16. We get our ballet via email from Florida. You just have to get in touch with your districts election supervisor and tell them you are abroad when you need to vote and they will email you the ballot. You print it and complete it and scan it back to them. Hope this works for the state you are registered in.

  18. TEMPORARY RESIDENT PROCESS STARTED WITHIN MEXICO If your FMM tourist card expired and it has been renewed in Mexico under a humanitarian process you may apply for a Temporary Resident visa without leaving Mexico. The renewal will be for 1, 2 or 3 years. It is up to Inmigracion staff to determine how many years. These are higher financials vs what is required at a Mexican consulate. Only a few INM offices will allow this process. I have submitted 4 processes with INM in San Miguel as we "test" the process. Your name on your financial statement need to be exactly the same as on your passport. Financial requirements below are based on an exchange rate of 22 to 1 for US $ and 16 to 1 for C$. Therefore, the amounts are not exact. On-line financial printouts are sufficient. Financials will require certified translations. Investments ~$112,000 US / $154,000 C (20,000 days x minimum wage 123.22) with 12 months of individual statements, or Monthly income ~$2404 US / $3080 C (400 days x minimum wage 123.22) employment or pension showing 6 months of bank statements, or · Offer of employment There is a review fee of 1325 pesos plus the regular Temporary Resident fees and the amount depends if your application is approved for 1, 2 or 3 years. My fee is 3000 pesos. Certified translation may be anywhere from 1000 to 2500 pesos depending how many pages. Process time for your visa is about 11 weeks. One parent may sponsor spouse and children once one spouse receives their temporary resident visa. In other words, only one person in a family needs to qualify with financials. On my web site www.soniadiaz.mx under visas / family is the process for sponsoring.

  27. Well you may think that way if you like but if opening bars and party spots are less likely to spread COVID than opening Telmex doesn't take much common sense to know that's not so. The reason for them still being closed is they are deemed non essential but bars and Parties are so, people who have no phones cannot get in touch with emergency services.

  29. I know several people who died at home in ndigenous villages. None of them went to the hospital.. they do not want to go to hospitals because they do not get the body back, just ashes and they do not believe that the ashes are the right ones so none of the indigenos I know will go to the hospital. In one case in Teottlan , I was told that there was no hospital space available, I call the corona virus number in Oaxaca and I had no problem talking to some one who assigned a space in a hospital if the test was positive.. then I was told by the family , they did not want to go because they would not get the body back.. The man was put on oxigene by the kids but he refused it after 3 days and died.. and that scene is repeated over and over , without the oxigen in CHiapas as you cannot find any outside of the hospitals.. Who knows how many cases there are in Mexico but I would guess a minimum of 10 times more.. As far as folk medecine, I have been given more recpe for tea that cure the virus than I have fingers and toes.. I am told that you get a fever, lose your sense of taste and smell but that with this or that tea you can get over it ...
