And where are people who are stuck here supposed to go? What a nasty thing to say to someone who has suffered such a calamity. Both of you posters should be ashamed. What makes you so self-righteous that you feel you have to post to pile onto someone's misery? Okay, you may feel that way and it is your right, but to post makes me feel sick....this is a time for compassion, not vilification .12 points

.I saw masks, most worn correctly. If you're concerned, wear your mask and gloves and maybe a containment suit or don't go out at all. Frankly, I'm taking the same precautions I did before and haven't even had so much as a sniffle. I prefer not to get all of that hand glop dumped on me because it's usually antibacterial and this is a virus. I wash my hands when I return. Yes, things could change, but I could get hit by a bus, too. I'll risk it.3 points

With the gringo flight to the North I decided to stay here because now there will be more homes to burglarize. I am looking for a 66" curved TV if anyone has a lead.3 points

And you know not whether that is the case here. You owe the OP an apology for a mean spirited off topic response. As does oregontochapala. The municipality needs to stop trying to strangle the local economy. If it is OK for big business to stay open with precautions it should be for the rest as well. Why anyone thinks strangling our local small businesses and impoverishing our Mexican neighbors to the point they are standing in food lines is good for anything is a complete mystery to me. Also, AirBNB has an agreement with the Mexican government to see that taxes are collected on rentals. I know of at least two properties , both Mexican owned, that left the site because of it. It would be fun to do a study of the characteristics and ownership of tax dodging local businesses. What do you want to bet the expat owned ones comply at a higher rate?2 points

A poster asks for help looking for temporary housing and is immediately attacked by two members accusing him (based on nothing at all) of not paying taxes and operating illegally. I guess those are not considered personal attacks and are allowed to remain. Disgusting.2 points

We had pizza delivered yesterday evening from M&J's. On time, hot and delicious. The young man wore face covering for the 15 second exchange. I gave him a big tip assuming business is slow. No worries at all.2 points

Absolutely true. At some point you just either assess then accept some risk or you just stop living. We are only ordering from trusted restaurants.2 points

With regard to food safety on take out or delivery, our opinion is that if we trusted their process before, we trust it now. If you think someone is mishandling food, why would you ever give them business?1 point

I thought that since it was a wine it would be for sale but it is a fortified wine with an ABV between 15-18%. It's time to put the gin in a salted rimmed glass with grapefruit juice for a classic Salty Dog.1 point

Why would you make sure h a snide remark? Is it something personal between the two of you, or are you just nasty by nature?1 point

The OP says call the neighbor Sara. Then it tells you about the guy who needs the place to stay. Since this is short term emergency housing telling you about him is part of his references. An Air B.B. host with a super host rating and his own beautiful home is very likely to be a good tenant. The OP is telling you he is a long-time, known member of the community if you have a spare room to offer. The guy’s mother died recently and the roof of his house collapsed. He needs a break.1 point

You just proved my point. "CV Nazis". So you're comparing some of your fellow citizens to "Nazis" because they are listening to health care professionals and might be concerned for their well-being. You may disagree, but to equate people you disagree with as the "Nazis" is childish and reveals a person with a total lack of self-awareness and irony, not to mention empathy.1 point

Respectfully: From what I read, every health expert in almost every country says social-distancing and hand washing are the two most critical things to do to avoid COVD-19. With that said, I'm wondering why, probably mostly expats) would put themselves and others at risk by going out to a restaurant where distancing is nearly impossible. How do you order w/o getting close? I don't see food being put on an empty table 6 feet away and customers going to get the food. Just my comment/question and no more.1 point

Gulirak , I am from France and I am in contact with family members daily. no one can tell you what wil lhappen. The state of emergency has been extended until July which means the government reserve the right to tell people to stay home, shut down travel and borders until July so far. . They are implementing a slow return to work in the red zones in the east and Paris and less restrictivein the green zone where there are less cases and no one knows what will happen. The government is closely monitering new cases and death and will decide what to do next. . Unless you have a need to go to France at that time ,postpone or cancel the trip until you know what will happen. So far it is not looking butpeople have towork so they are reopenng the schools so that parents can go to work and are watching for a second wave... I sure woud not make plans for this fall. Also you are from a country that has the corona virus so what is the need to go and export it again. So far travelling has proven that it is the best way to contaminate others Stay put until this thing is over.. Right now the Parisians with second homes are not welcome in the towns where they have a second home and are fined if they are found to be going there and you are thinking of travelling in September or October coming from a country that has a high contagion rate.. stay away please no one needs more contamination.1 point

We live HERE. This is our home. We own it, we have been here permanently for 10+ years, and currently cannot think of anywhere I would rather be. (Other than the big, long vacation I planned/paid for to escape the May heat and had to cancel.) Where would we go ? We were visiting family when TSHTF in the USA, and all we wanted to do was get back here to Mexico. I just cannot imagine having to be up there all this time in a place not my own and imposing on people. We are happy here, have our doggies, all things familiar that we need to make us happy and content and comfortable. As long as we are together, we are fine. We are too old to be out and about that much, as we have no car (by choice), but walk to get everything we need. Our day to day life is basically the same as before CV. Changes are in only personal services- housekeepr, doggy day care, pedicures, massages and an occasional lunch out with girlfriends. I do rely more on shopping delivery services.1 point

Calling all foreigners with tourists visas and Temporary Import Permits! As of now there are no uniform rules for the reissuance of tourist visas across Mexico, each immigration office is handling things differently. The bigger issue is that many people have entered Mexico as tourist and have a vehicle with a temporary import permit. These permits have or will expire and there is no uniform rule for people to extend their permits (we have been able to give some people new ones or use their spouse to get a new one) throughout the country. Others report being able to extend in some parts of Mexico. During these times of crisis many people due to local, state and federal restrictions or just plain old good health practices cannot travel or return to their home countries. These people are in Mexico and still need to be able to go out and buy food, see their doctor, go to the bank and get medicine. These same people can be targets of unscrupulous traffic police and other police who will target them and pull them over to check their documents and their car permits. If a person has an expired car permit then they face having their car, their only method of transportation to buy food or medicine, taken from them leaving them stranded and violating their constitutional rights to health care and nutrition. I have presented a request to the Tax Ombudsman´s office (Procuraduria de la Defensa del Contribuyente) to request that the tax authorities (SAT and Aduana) make special provisions during these times so that people who are unable to travel can still drive to buy food and receive medical attention. We are asking for something official so that people may have a document to show. We are trying to get Aduana and SAT to be aware of the gravity of the situation so have been asked to compile as many complaints as possible to be able to force the issue with them. We can send you a form to sign and scan and send back so that your voices may be heard and measures may be taken nationwide to not have issues driving to get food and medicine. We will need the following information: Full name: Phone numbers (landline and cell phone): If you are retired or came as a visitor and why you came: Date you entered Mexico: Date your car permit expires: Copy of your passport How old you are: Any medical condition you have: Any past problems with police or transitos pulling you over for no reason: Please be patient with us, we have been receiving many, many calls, emails and messages. We are not charging for this service and doing it to benefit all foreigners all over Mexico. Information and documents can be emailed to prodecon at chapalalaw dot com1 point

@cafemediterraneo Nancy, we are so sorry for your loss. Michael and you greatly influenced the local community by employing many workers at your restaurant, teaching them about different food and music cultures. You and Michael were generous to allow the Thursday market vendors use your space. He (and you) were always upbeat, with smiles on your faces as you walked steadfastly around Ajijic; I still sometimes refer to you both as The Walkers.1 point
