  1. A simple Google search reveals that Daniel Turner has a history as a public relations operative for, among others, the Charles Koch Institute. He also has some experience in planning weddings. He doesn't have any background or education in science. His Power the Future organization is a dark money 501(c)(4) organization, that is not required to identify the source of its funding. It appears to be yet another Koch Brothers front group; however, due to the nature of dark money organizations, that cannot be confirmed. While he doesn't know his ### from a hole in the ground when it comes to climate change, he does know how to get airtime on Fox TV. Turner and Carlson both seem to be math-challenged as well as deficient in reading comprehension. That IPCC report referred to in the interview was issued in 2018...so we're down to 11 years now. The report does not say that the world ends in 2030. It says civilization has until that time to respond to global warming in order to mitigate catastrophic climate change in the future. (I am increasingly convinced that the likes of Jim Bowie, Hud, Hook Em Horns, and a few others who post on this forum, who I refer to as the "Texas Taliban," are fake characters created by MC. If you read TOB, you may be aware that MC has been exposed for creating fake screen identities in order to post there since he is banned from that forum. Sorry I wasted my time in watching the clip and responding to it.)

  2. Let's take a closer look at these young devils and listen to what they have to say. I defy you, MC, to factually verify your claims that these particular young people are poorly educated, misinformed and being manipulated by adults.

  5. OK, I'll chime in. There is Zipp Transport who makes at least a couple of runs a month. Hugh and his crew do everything "by the book" so import taxes get paid and items checked to ensure there's nothing questionable in the shipment. It's really important that you follow their instructions to the "t" to prevent any problems. They're a great source to use for those items that other companies won't send, due to the paperwork hassle, etc (ie, my favorite brand of organic Stevia). http://zipptransport.com Hope that helps.

  13. La Gran Muralla China By cafemediterraneo, January 18 in Lakeside Restaurant/Bistro Happenings We are now open for lunch and dinner serving Chinese food in the styles of Szechuan and Hunan. It's been open for two months across from the Ajijic plaza and nobody seems to have tried it or admitted so.

  14. I've actually thought about taking photos of all the "abandoned" cars I've seen. Make a coffee table type book out of them. It seems to be a Mexican right, like owning a gun NOB. One of my favorites is the one parked on the carretera directly in front of the immigration office in Chapala. Don't know if it's still there but at one time it had no wheels , let alone an engine in it. "welcome to Mexico" it seemed to announce. In Ajjijic some lot of them used as personal land fills. I think only valuable cars get towed since there is actually a chance someone will pay to recover it. Maybe we should post photos of our "favorite" abandoned vehicles ?

  15. The US President and Sec Commerce want to the U$D weaker as it increases exports. So more weakening is likely this year. It certainly doesn't help me but I know it helps trade.

  17. This is an English language trailer for a documentary about the Aztec Eagles - 300 Mexican men, volunteers, trained to become airmen and shipped to the Pacific war as the 201 squadron. They say there are only 60 airmen left alive, but do not say how many were killed in battle. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yUJacda5xeo

  19. Mainecoons: "The proof the private sector can do this job far better is right there across the U.S. border where energy costs half of what it does here. Amazing that anyone could miss this. " Meanwhile, in California, the private monopoly PG&E (Pacific Gas and Electric) is going bankrupt. Lawsuits. Stuff happens.

  20. You mean like the Dalai Lama, Mother Teresa, the founder of Greenpeace who was imprisoned and beaten, the head of the Canadian cannabis legalisation movement who was extradited to the U.S. and served 6 years for distributing cannabis seeds from a non-profit company? The talented writers, artists and musicians who struggle with poverty for years before they are finally recognised. I could go on with many examples. As Mtn Mama already noted, there are different perceptions of standards of living all over the world, and they certainly don't all look to the U.S. with admiration or jealousy. Would you rather praise the youngish man who took over a pharmaceutical company and raised the price on a critically needed drug by 2,000%?

  22. We've been living here fulltime for almost 20 years and have had the restaurant for 6. Since our profession is North Indian Classical Music we had an Indian restaurant. I Have been cooking Indian food for over 40 years, especially for our Indian guests who would stay at our house in San Francisco while doing the Northern California part of their tours. This year I decided that Indian food was too exotic for this area, we had more Mexican clients than Gringos, so we went Chinese--SF native cuisine. Some had suggested Mediterranean and we had that for 6 months a couple of years ago,but those that said they'd be there for us weren't... Obviously have nothing to do with Tremezzo.

  25. Lily, we have stayed in Hacienda del Sol and it was fine. We parked in their garage and drove where we were going, as we were getting large pots needing loading, so can't advise on walking. The price is very reasonable. I agree with More Liana, as we have been to Santa Clara del Cobre in Michoacan. Well worth the trip for Copper info, workshops, purchase. Good luck. P.S. More Liana is a resource with a wealth of experience and vast knowledge of Mexico. You can PM her and she will respond.

  26. Rumors start as private whispers. Here it is public - to be either confirmed and denied. If I posted this on the other board, there would be a lot of spiteful and mean public comments. That would not be allowed here.

  28. What most people don't grasp are the socio economic implications of the massive decline in the standard of living required of the west, and the foregoing of improvement in standard of living required of everyone else in order to make a dent in this problem. Emotion and passion don't change reality and when people actually start to experience what is really required here they will quickly lose their infatuation with this movement.
