LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

mail-box-full-colorDear Sir:

As a three year resident of Ajijic, I am writing to support the opinion of Randy Kent is his Letters to the Editor. While most of the articles are interesting, amusing, informative, and an enjoyment to read, I find that the political slant has become extreme, boring, and rude (Maggie Van Ostrand channeling Sarah Palin). When and if I want political updates or satire, I can watch television and select the “slant” of my choice, not yours.

Your response to Mr. Kent had an arrogant and condescending tone. While you view the writers as “iconoclastic” and the majority of Lakeside residents as “progressives” (both opinions with which I agree), it does not mean that the writers are above writing “drivel” for you to publish.

You claim that you want to run columns “which reflect the conservative view, but have never been able to enlist any right wing pundits to write such columns.” Your implication that one must be “right wing” to express conservative views would lead some to surmise that your “progressives” are “left wing.” Is that the case? I wonder would President Obama agree with that definition of “progressivism.” I am sure Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi would agree, but I am not sure about the President.

I hope that I have met your requirement of expressing my opinion point by point. I respectfully close, but as a “progressive,” a conservative,” or a retired resident who is very happy that the Mexicans welcome me as a guest into their country? You decide.
