Walking the Walk

Le Petit Ballet Company - The Film

After five years of teaching and inspiring young petite ballerinas "from the other side of Paris," and sharing the proceeds from their performances each December 18th with the less fortunate of our community, Dr. Dolores Russell finds herself confronted by a larger responsibility. It involves the poverty-stricken children of Puerta del Horno in Chapala. These children play and work in a garbage dump area laden with respiratory diseases, allergies and illness. "This is where they have been destined to live," Dr. Russell sighs.
She has created a special video focused on humanity. Humanity, she says, has the power to heal the world of war, disease and poverty through uniting mankind. The video will premier at the Bugambilias Cine by invitation on October 12, 2002, Día de la Raza and Columbus Day. Dance can be an expression of the pain and sorrow of war, contrasted with the joy of all the beauty our planet can offer and the blessing of freedom of choice. She encourages us all to explore the valuable qualities we can share with each other. Read more about Le Petit Ballet Company's December dance presentation in our next issue. If you have any questions or would like an invitation, contact Dr. Dolores Russell at Plaza Bugambilias No. 14 or call 766-0075.
On October 19 the huge rummage sale that encompasses all Lakeside charities comes to the Auditorio. The School for the Deaf asks that you probe the back of your closets and bodegas... your donations could make a big difference in a deaf child's life. If you telephone Debbie at 766-0263 or Norine at 766-0920, they'll be glad to arrange for a pickup 766-0920.
