Creative Lakeside

     * Congratulations to Jesus Lopez Vega for being one of the few local artists chosen to have a painting reproduced in the Guadalajara Chamber of Commerce upcoming “Expopinturas” magazine. “Fiestas de Ajijic,” the painting chosen, was coincidentally featured in Lakeside Living’s ‘Focus on the Arts’ column last month. Jesus can be found at Ocampo #200, working away in his studio/gallery.

     * By the time you read this, “Sinatra Forever,” will be almost over, but you might consider e-mailing sandyvandermeer@hotmail.com for tickets anyway, just in case. Showdates are September 3, 4, 5 and 6 at 7:30 pm at the Lakeside Little Theatre. Tickets, at 100 pesos, may be available at the box office on show nights as well. The show stars Sandy Vandermeer, well-known locally for her monthly offerings at The New Posada. Her latest show there is called “Anything Goes,” which she describes as an eclectic mix of her favorite songs. It’s scheduled for late September.

     * Rumor has it that Kokopelli, the popular new group featuring Carol Bedford and Flip Nicholson on vocals, will be getting a stage and lights soon at Melanies. Way to go, you guys! Then there’s the excellent new jazz group at La Bodega, with Noe’s father on his smooth as silk sax, not to mention Noe himself at the Tejaban in Ajijic. As you know, these just scratch the surface of music Lakeside.
